Best mass email software?

Hi,

I have a site with 250k members and I want to send a monthly newsletter to them. I have a in-house coded script to send a newsletter but its without html and I can't manage subscriptions etc...

What software would be best suited for me? I want to be able to sent html mails in a nice custom template and manage subscriptions, and be able to add-on new emails to my list since my site grows daily in around 750 users.

Or would buying a custom script integrated in my website be better?

Thanks

for a news letter I would recomend Sendblaster which is a free desktop software
I dont know if the free version will support 250K emails (are you serious you have a site with a quater of a million members) but they also have a paid version

Wow 250k members and 750 new ones a day.

How did you build this list without having an autoresponder to begin with?

How do you build a list without an auto responder? There is something wrong with the whole picture. By the time you grow a list to that size you would have or should have figured everything out.

I think you should use Aweber or Getresponse to organize your emails. There are some others that are also good and even cheap.

This is a huge member list. You will get profit if they are legitimate, I mean you will get them from your website not buying them from the spammers websites or you will get complains from them and maybe you will get in trouble.

    Good Luck.

Is it possible to hire a programmer to create an auto responder service like aweber, instead of paying for it on a monthly basis? If yes, how much this project might cost?

Off course they are all obtained directly through my website. It's a membership based site and I have lots to offer

building a list was never the purpose of my website. I just now want to exploit the fact that I can send a newsletter

For months I wanted to create a wp plugin to do this. Yes there are a few ones out there, but some lack quality and features. I have tried to get other people interested in a JV for this, but most are busy and for some reason they do not see the benefits.

I see Autoresponders pricing from $19.00 to over $999.00 a month and beyond which is all dependent on the subscriber size. The only thing really managed by these companies is keeping their IP's from being blacklisted. This anyone can do. It is ridiculous. We are talking software point blank. Anything on these Autoresponder services can do, so can it be on any linux/windows server and in most cases pluged into WP. It's PHP.

I would of thought by now someone, especially here on WF would have made a high quality plugin to do just that. Think about it, how many hundreds or thousands of dollars a person or company save each month and year?

Right now I just do a bit of modding to the plugins for personal use. This is the one I am using now. You can run multiple lists, forms, campaigns, etc. Even has SMTP hooks. Oh and its free.

the problem with adweber and similar is (and correct me if wrong) you cant ad emails to it.
If you do it will just send out an auro message saying

"Joe Blogs has added you to his mailimg list do you want to accept yes no"

while if you use sendblaster you can them automatically and it will start to work

Depends a lot on what you are sending and to how many people, and of course, what sort of account you have. In internet marketing, you will be happier with a good autoresponder to do your mass mailing. They handle independently sent newsletter sequence to many users, and are very reasonably priced. I use AWeber, and it does a great job.

Bear in mind if you start with a free/cheap one and move to a real one later (like AWeber) you will probably need to have each member of an imported list re-confirm, as they only allow imported lists to be double-opt-in. This may result in your subsriber list to shrink significantly, as many people won't re-subcribe or confirm a second time...

Did they opt in or are you just using their registration email address? You'll get a more responsive list if you provide quality content instead of just exploiting the fact that you have their email address.

I don't really know how I would proceed if I were you, since the list is with your database and not an email service provider like Aweber. You may have to use some sort of email script on your site unless you can find a provider to transfer them for you.

Congrats on the success of your site!

Wanted to chime in with another suggestion of Interspire. We are using it for all of our clients who have lists of larger than 1 Million and are doing quite well. Though we also have a custom in-house MTA which speeds up sending, IEM is a great solution.

It can be difficult to setup for a newcomer. However once done it will rotate IPs and lots of crazy cool stuff!

How about using Interspire Email Marketer with something like SendGrid or Amazon's SES as the mail server? They cost only $0.10 per thousand to mail. So sending out email newsletters to 250k members per month will cost $25 per month.

Get an autoresponder or sign up with aweber. Then you can send weekly newsletters and email campaigns to all of your subscribers

I 2nd Autoresponse Plus. I also like the owner Neil. You probably will too.

I like 3rd party ARs like GetResponse and AWeber more, but they probably won't let you import subscribers without confirmation.

Tere are a lot of choices available online which will help you to connect with your subscribers in real time & reaching those 250k subscribers will not be really tough when you will chose options like:

    Aweber
    Mailchimp
    Getresponse
    Constant contact

These all have their own possibilities & demerits for sure.... Chose them according to your requirements...
