If you bothered to read the article, you would see that he is saying paid advertising is a bad revenue model for your blog.

He does not mention anywhere about blogging being dead.

Take the tech blogging world. Sites like TechCrunch and Mashable get ridiculous amounts of traffic (well, TechCrunch used to). And they both got into the conference business as fast as they could, because that’s how you boost profits – by selling seats at an event, not with more eyeballs on pages.
Thanks for the link. Very incisive analysis on the purpose of your site.

Nothing has died yet! I believe this because my site's ranking has not even dropped by one place and that's because I never did any low quality work. Nothing has died rather something has reborn and that too with full fledged power and that is Content, quality and relevancy. I wish if Google would have done it long back then today everyone could have fed him/herself with relevant and quality feeds. However still we have time to get the positions back that we lost.

We need to infuse new life into blogs and make them more dynamic,I am suggesting that we look at blogs the same way we look at newspapers and magazines.

Another overly dramatic post about something dying.

Making money online.... is now dead, by the way... and before you try to get ahead, making money offline, is also dead.

Quality content will never die.....stick with that as a policy and I can't see how you can go wrong....after all, isn't that what everyone wants at the end of the day (including Google). Not rocket science really....

It's definitely not dead although I do agree to an extent

It's probably a better idea to create your own product

But I'm sure there are a few wealthy bloggers out there who would disagree with me

The future of blogging comes down to focused content, simply evaluating on a daily basis if your posts that you are writing are purposeful and meet the rhetorical purpose of the blog. Just like print media, the content will have to continually focus based on purpose, and ultimately on the audience.
