What TLDs Do You Use Besides .com?

What TLDs do you use besides the top 4 - .com , .net, .org and .info ?

Do you ever buy .co, .biz, .us, .eu, .tv ?

If not for SEO purposes then how about branding?
Would you ever buy one word domains with less popular TLDs?

For example:
art.co (currently $120,000 at directnic.com - was 100K few month ago)
money.co ($200,000 at directnic)
business.eu
fashion.us (was $500,000 at directnic)
flowers.cc
blog.tv
online.biz

Would you register any of those if you had a chance to get them at $10 each? Would you pay $100 for those? How about $1000?

I'd probably buy a .co as they are short and easy to remember for newbies. I wouldn't do any region based domain names.

I hope you know .co is still "region based" because it's a ccTLD assigned to Colombia

This is incorrect, regarding SEO, anyway.

Google announced very openly, last year, that because of its widespread usage, it now ranks (together with .me and .tv domains, which were also originally geotargeted for Montenegro and Tuvualu respectively) as an international TLD just like .com, .net and all the others.

Edited to add: sorry, I posted at the same time as HN, above.

    Hi,

If you don't have a proven plan for monetizing a domain, then there is no point to getting it. .com's are by far the domains that appreciate most in value. I know a lot of people that have bought up great domains, but are not making money from them and don't know how to sell them for a profit either.

Yes, these sites generally do well. I think you call this domain hacking or something like that. It's trending at the moment by the looks of it

Last year I bought Alerts4.me and Alerts4.us with the intention of monetizing them or doing something or another...but I saw a shiny WSO with a nice, big push-button in it, and I completely lost my focus on it.

I'm still waiting on my million dollars from it.

Let me rephrase the question. If all other TLD's are taken will you register .co?

Let's take as an example "disney channel games" 550,000 searches 58,600 AllInTitle
disneychannelgames.com, net, org, info, me, tv, us, biz, cc and ws all are taken, only dot co is available. Will you register .co or use a hyphen or move on to another keyword?

P.S. I wouldn't use a trademarked name in the domain anyway, I am just using this particular keyword as an example only.

Oh, of course I'll use hyphens rather than buy the .co - no hesitation at all, about that.

But I'm more likely just to vary the domain-name a bit, so I can buy the .com and .info I want. This has always worked for me, in the past.

I can always add something after the keyword, if I'm worried about a keyword.

I know a .co ranks exactly the same as a .com, obviously, but for myself I don't like it enough to buy it for use, for a whole variety of other reasons.

At some point, I'm going to be losing some traffic to the owner of the .com, for a start. And then there's resale value, and so on.

I admit that I have different criteria for "buying for my own use" from those I have for "buying for resale" (of which I do a lot).

i've got a few .tv domains for video projects but the renewal costs at $40/yr get up there if you don't develop them quickly.

I know what you mean. I 've got 150 domains pending renewal at about €22 each. I haven't developed them yet, either.

Here RFC1591 Domain Name System Structure and Delegation

COM - This domain is intended for commercial entities

EDU - This domain was originally intended for all educational
    institutions.

NET - This domain is intended to hold only the computers of network
providers, that is the NIC and NOC computers, the
administrative computers, and the network node computers.

ORG - This domain is intended as the miscellaneous TLD for
organizations that didn't fit anywhere else.

INT - This domain is for organizations established by international
    treaties, or international databases.

For your case, for me will prefer .com

I only stick to the main 3 .com .net .org

There are nothing wrong with the other ones I just think these have a higher trust factor here in the us

I use .com .net. .org and .biz for my sites. Sometimes I will use a .tv if it is a tube site.

I don't use anything but .coms. Personally, when I see anything but a .com, I have this perception that the site isn't as good as a .com site. It's a dumb prejudice, but I'm stuck with it. I don't buy tons of domains though. I only buy a domain when I create a new product.
