I need help, please - can't seem to find my head

Hello Warriors,

My husband of 20 years and I separated yesterday. I have been trying to build a writing business from home with mixed success, and now the stress of the impending divorce has me really confused. I have five writing clients, but could always use more, and I plan to find a part-time job just to get out of the house.

I'd like to make an extra $50-100 a day that I can rely on so I'm not so stressed if my current clients are slow paying or if it's a slow month workwise. I was thinking along the lines of something I could do each day - I don't know - maybe some kind of affiliate marketing... I don't know. This is the problem. No clarity.

Thank you so much - I feel blind and retarded right now, and if you need to take me to task, please be somewhat gentle. I seem to cry easily right now...

Mel

    Hey Mel,

Sorry to hear about your 'news'. That's really a bummer. I think you're right to be proactive about the money aspect, but I find that its difficult to make good decisions quickly when I'm seriously stressed. Translation, focus on making the money for now, but wait for the dust to clear before making any long term business or financial strategy - why put that additional pressure on yourself?

Take a deep breath and solve one problem at a time for the next few months. They don't all require answers in the next 48 hours.

    Good Luck!!

There's always a pretty high demand for PLR articles. Packs of 10 well written articles on popular niches are popular. There's a lot of niches not covered by a lot of the PLR writers. You'd have to do some research on what's out there and what is needed.

PLR reports along with articles are also popular. Something to think about if your client work is slow.

Suzanne typed faster than I did. I was also going to suggest selling PLR.

I know how hard it is to focus while going through a divorce (been there, done that). But I found having something to concentrate on beside the personal issues actually helped me from falling into a pit of despair (some days). Plus, knowing that I would have a way to support myself helped rebuild my badly bruised self-confidence.

I've mentioned this a lot to people, but there are a lot of article writing sites out there. You're in the United States, so check out Textbroker.com. You could get paid more for your writing at other places, but what's nice about textbroker is that there is always a pool of work waiting to be written. Just grab articles and write enough to make your extra $50-$100 a day. Get paid every Friday.

    Good luck!

Good writers will always be in demand on the Internet, as people will always need good content. You can do the PLR thing, bid on writing jobs on freelancer sites (Elance, Odesk, Freelancer, etc.), join sites that hire writers like Needanarticle, write Kindle books, write product reviews, post your services on all the webmaster forums and the Warriors For hire section here, etc. There are tons of ways to get new writing clients.

Be sure to set up your own website to sell your writing services and post samples there. Make it easy to order for people, as when I need content, I find it a hassle to have to email or PM the person to order and then have to wait for their reply and then send payment manually via Paypal. Set up order buttons and a web form to make it super easy to order your services, you will get more orders from people like me. Best of luck to you!

Hi Mel - wow 20 years is a long time and I am sorry to hear the problems you have been having. I understand your sadness and perhaps shock right now. There is a lot to deal with. You have reached out because you want to at least ensure your financial situation can be sorted.

I know from what you say, you are experienced writer. You can definitely choose to put your talents to good use as a writer or use your writing talents to develop an Internet Marketing business. I notice you've been around the WF for a while so you probably know a fair bit.

You can do both in my opinion. Why not start researching and colate info on perhaps building some niche sites or even begin building a more authority site. Prioritize your writing en devours as your 'day job' and spend time while you can adding to your IM business which could in time become your main income stream.

I feel for you my lovely and if you decide to deliver a WSO with PLR, give me a shout and I'll invite you to my JV coffee shop on Facebook. I can also recommend a JV group for serious product creators who will support you in launching a WSO. This could also provide a cash injection depending on what your PLR targets.

It will come right Mel, you have the right intentions, the right spirit and you are doing all the right things

Wow Marx. That's a powerful story. My son was out with mates one night, always the jolly guy, the entertainer when he saw a young man literally getting his head kicked in. My son being 'my son' could not and would not stand by. He was stabbed five times in the back for being a good samaritan. He is recovered in most ways but you I guess will appreciate that recovery is not every full. Good on you for being so supportive of Mel in her time of worry. And good on you for doing what you do.

    Hi Mel
Sorry to hear about that, 20 years has to be tough

You'll be fine i'm sure, and come out of this much stronger...and with a better head on your shoulders. :-)

There's already some great advice on my thread, so I don't think I have much to contribute - Suzannes PLR idea is great, as are some of the others. As for me, I just wanted to send some positive feelings you way

Good luck - I know you'll do fine

Again, can't make any promises about his, but ping me if you want me to look in to it further for you.

Thanks again, everybody. I'm haven't been on the WF for a while, and I so appreciate all of you! I will be in contact with many of you soon. We're sorting/separating stuff right now. Yee haw.

One good thing - I am moving back home to another state and I can be an Amazon affiliate, which I've always wanted to do. Take care and thank you for all your ideas, thoughts and wishes. They mean a lot to me and give me hope.

      Hi Mel -

When my husband was diagnosed with cancer, I started a cancer blog. While it doesn't help me financially, it did help me cope with real life, and keep things straight in my own head.

      The PLR suggestion is great.

The person who said blog about it, has a great idea, too. You'll feel better. Just remember - the internet caches stuff forever and what you write can be held against you in divorce court. So, you kinda need to keep that in the back of your head when write.

      Best of luck to you.
