    I LOVE this site...

Stick with "quality", non-sales content of real value though...

Thanks Habit! I'll have to try it more. I've posted 1 or 2 things there, but I haven't used it too much yet. =)

Make sure that you fill in the Type and Category correctly and you can place as many tags [keywords]as you like.Write a compelling description with your website or blog address included. It really is set and forget ..place the scribd link on your website an add a series of reports.

I can also confirm that Scribd is a great way to rank in Google. Make sure you're keywords are in your documents title.

FYI this works BUT it's against their rules and if you get reported, all your hard work will be gone. I know because it happened to me.

I uploaded over 50 documents there (great quality documents that were "Favorited" by dozens of users), but apparently they do not allow ANY kind of advertising in documents including LINKING to any site that sells anything.

In other words, they completely discourage using their site for marketing of any kind. You can't even link to a site that sells something.

I actually did not know this when I began uploading documents there (who actually reads the Terms of Service when they sign up really?). I had a pretty good run, lots of documents ranked well in Google, getting traffic, etc. But it all disappeared in one day when someone reported the documents were linking to a site that sold something.

All that traffic - poof - gone in an instant! (They'll delete everything you've ever uploaded)

One thing you probably could do, is link to a personal, non sales site in your Scribd documents. Then figure out some way to get people from that site over to your sales site. Personally I just moved on to other marketing methods.

One alternative to Scribd that you CAN put links into, is DocStoc. com

Scribd is really useful. I discovered it not long ago too and there are some real gems amongst the dross. I love the huge Indian yearbooks!

I uploaded one document about a year ago and never paid much
attention to it after that. But because of this post I just uploaded
2 pdf files and already had 10 views within the first 30 minutes.

I'll see if things work out better this time.

Hmmm... so what good does it do you to post an article to scribd if you can't add any links. Isn't that the whole purpose or posting articles?

I must be lucky. I have documents in Scribd from two weeks ago to two years ago and they all link directly to my sales page. Never had a problem. It could be because my sales page doesn't instantly look like a sales page but they would figure it out pretty quickly.

I better read their TOS and figure this out.

If you are a good writer and can produce good quality "how to" pdf content you can use Scribd to your advantage.

I love scribd! It's great for people who have good content on their websites and want to promote it.

You can't link directly to affiliate sites, so if you have a high quality Adsense site, you'll benefit tons. I got on the second page for my keyword in about 12 hours. I should move up to page 1 within the next 24 hours.

Andrea, awesome . How many links to your site you put in your documents on average and where do you put them?. I put mine on the first paragaph.

    Guys,

Scribd is good. But don't just limit yourself to it!
There is SlideShare and DocStoc as well.

And they get indexed pretty fast too!

i did well until someone in scribd flagged my document . Some people don't have better things to do. Probably one of my competitors .. no idea

Yes my articles are commercial how to guides but there are thousands of documents like mine in scribd and they don't get deleted .

If you follow the same guidelines as EZA you can upload just about anything you want.

Give a good piece of content and then add an 'about the author' section at the end with your link.

It should get accepted no problem.

I would avoid using your links in the description though.

Yep.. I have noticed that it just takes couple of hours to get indexed pages from such content sharing sites in Google. Scribd, slideshare, DocStoc, etc. are great resources, if you have something fresh and unique conent to share and Google loves pages from such document sharing sites.

Scribd recently opened an e-book store, I've uploaded some ebooks for which I acquired the resell rights to. Right now I'm working on how incorporate what I'm learning here to make the ebooks I have up more valuable.

This mostly involves fixing my tags.

Can I just save some of my better EZA articles into a PDF and upload it there? Will there be a problem if I just have a 'resource' box at the bottom with a link to a blog?

All of this is assuming that the content is good. Or at least decent enough to be approved by EZA.

    Hi there,

I must agree with DavidO - I have several documents on Scribd all with links and have had no trouble. I have found it excellent. I have also found it a good way of driving traffic to a free report page to build your subscriber list.

Beats the pants off Ezine (you'll get given the ok in 10 days if you're lucky) Articles!!!

The problem with some people is they look at site like scribd as another way to do SpamMarketing. It is a content website and what they want is inormative, helpful content and not some copied resell rights sales letter turned into a pdf.

I have had an account on scribd for the longest time with no problems at all and even got like 40 followers and I have thousands of views on my documents.

The proper way to use these sites are to provide high quality informative documentations. Newsletter styles if you will.. Add your copyright and link to a related TLD. Do not spam the document with a bunch of junk affiliate links. Anybody that does article marketing should fully understand how to properly use Scribd.

You write up your document and provide informative information on the subject you are writing about. DO NOT expect to get sales and make sales, instead go in with the expectation of "helping" others understand about the subject you are writing about more.

Trust me by helping others they will be thankful and follow any copyright link or one related link you add at the end of your document. This is what the web 2.0 sites such as Scribd was created for "To Provide High Qulity Informative Information".. Get it out of your mind about making money.. Instead put it in your head to be "helpful and kind with no expectation of getting anything in return". Master that and the money will follow.
