How can I get a good Youtube thumbnail?

I only have 3 pics to choose from pic for my youtube image. How can I change it to something else that is nice and attention getting? I can't find this info anywhere. I thought I read that if your a "partner" you might be able to change it but thats not true for me. I need better thumbnails for my youtube videos that scream CLICK ME! Please help!

    You answered your own question - only YouTube Partners can choose the image for their videos.

    One way non-partners can do this is to place the image they want to use as the thumbnail at the exact half-way point in their videos. One of the 3 images YouTube allows you to select is always at the 50% point. However it's not always possible to structure your videos that way.

    It's almost impossible to get the thumbnail you want unless you are a partner, YouTube change their algorithm to where it randomly gets a thumbnail around the beginning, middle, and end.

    Yeah the exact half way point won't work anymore. I've tried it myself, the 3 thumbnails they choose now are more random.

    You are correct that only Partners can change the thumbnail to a specific image. Although in the middle of April, YouTube had the wonderful think tank to make everyone partner, they updated the partnership to say they would roll out those type of features over time and just being a partner does not get you access to being able to create your own thumbnails.

    Youtube is boss man.... It depends on them what part of image them want to put on show. You can do that..

      Thanks for the input. I should have made it more clear that I did sign up to be a "partner" but I still can't choose the thumbnail I want. So whats the point of being a partner... I just did it so I could get a good thumbnail but I still wasn't able to choose what I wanted.
