Facebook testing 'pay to promote' post tool

I see that Facebook are now testing a 'pay to promote post' tool which allows users to pay to highlight or promote a post.

Here is an interesting article on the BBC web site :
BBC News - Facebook tests 'pay to promote post' tool

It seems like they are experimenting with a number of different formats and pricing structures.

It will be interesting to see what effect this has on the Facebook model.

Huh, that's interesting. I had to go and click on the Stuff article as I was confused. Once I saw the screenshot it all made sense. How do they establish how much you pay for it? Is it targeting like regular FB advertising?

I haven't actually seen it in practice but it is going to be very interesting to see how it all works.

I am not sure if it will be targeting like a FB ad...it seems to imply that this is just a post that a person can highlight.

I have a feeling that we will start and see lots of alternative suggestions for FB generating money to appeal to the shareholders.

That's the first time I hear about this but I suppose that something like this will add too many spam messages on facebook. It seems that there is a lot of pressure for more profits now that facebook will start trading on NASDAQ...

      I think so too.

I would be interested to read the terms and conditions on this one
