Article marketing? You haven't thought of this...

Many people view article writing as a way to either earn money directly or as an addition to SEO efforts.

You may not have considered another benefit of writing articles: to sharpen your marketing skills.

Here is what I did:

First of all, English is not my first language. However, I wanted to challenge myself so I wrote articles for two most "scrutinizing" websites: EzineArticles.com and Constant-content.com

Here is how doing this would benefit you:

1) You'll be forced to improve your writing. The editors on these sites are very strict -especially on Constant-content.com since you get paid when your articles are sold.

2) You get free grammar and writing advice - Again the editors will pinpoint your mistakes.

3) You will be forced to create VALUE - if your articles do not offer value they will be rejected. This makes you really focus on providing something the reader wants.

Plus, constant-content.com sells your articles - they can't do so if there is no VALUE in what you have written.

The results: I'm proud to say I completed the 100 articles in 100 days challenge on EzineArticles.com. And I got my prices!

I have also sold several articles on Constant-content.com.

The best part is, I can now create useful content very quickly. So writing is not a problem for me. And the more I write the better I become at serving my customers and keeping them happy.

P.S. If you have ever tried submitting to constant-content.com you know how hard it is to get your articles approved there. But once you do, you will know that you can write world-class articles.

I've written articles for Ezine Articles and Constant Content. You are right: You're forced to write your very best in order to gain approval or sell anything.

People knock Ezine Articles for reasons other than the challenge it presents to submit only your best work, but I can appreciate the traffic to my blog in addition to the mindset adjustment about writing and editing. Every article I've submitted to Constant Content has been approved and sold with few revisions, but for many writers it's frustrating.

I would love to get back to both, but I already don't have enough hours in the day dealing with clients.

I've only just joined constent-content and have a couple of pieces under review so not sure how it will go with them, but I've always found ezinearticles to be quite easy to submit to. They often accept my work when there's mistakes in the copy. I find them quite lax on quality control.

I think it depends on your category possibly, nevertheless Ezinearticles are stricter than most directories, if not all.

Constant-content.com is another ball game altogether since they intend to make money directly from your writing.

It's really worth re-writing when they tell you to - you will become a better writer in the end.

Can I ask, were your sold articles on Constant-content requested content, or just ones you put out there that someone liked and bought? What price range did you go for?

These were articles I put out. I can't recall the exact prices (too lazy to check now) but I know I tend to price $27- $37 per article.

    Haha!

What a coincidence - someone who bought my previous articles sent a message asking if there are more I could sell to them! (I don't really have time but maybe I will, just for fun!)
