AWeber/GetResponse automation "move on action"

Here's what I want to do in AWeber.

I want to offer to my list a free report by sending Email 1. Two days later, I want to send Email 2 to remind them of my free report.

But if someone reading Email 1, clicks on the link to get my free report, I don't want to send them the reminder Email 2.

The solution, of course, is to move people who click on the link to a separate list, and only send Email 2 to those remaining on the list.

Essentially, this is a "move on action" automation. Unfortunately, AWeber doesn't provide this. Their support said that I should go to the very robust AWeber API and crank out the code myself... Woopie!

Does anybody already have this AWeber API code written? Does anyone have a different method to conditionally send a reminder to your list?

GetResponse has this function, it seems, but so far I can't get it to work, and there is no documentation or help available, just email exchanges with support. Has anybody done this in GetResponse?

Thoughts?

John

      John,

Why not just go ahead and send e-mail 2 as
a reminder, asking them if they have d/loaded
the report yet, and if they haven't, include the
link again right there at the top.

THEN, just make the rest of the e-mail a free
content e-mail, and that will take away the
appearance of you just trying to push something
      on them.

They will come more likely interacting with you if
      you do this also.

      Hope this helps,
      Robert

Thanks, good idea, REHughes. I'll probably end up doing that, but bristle a little at having to work around the failures of Aweber and GetResponse...

AWeber does provide for you to do this...

All you need to do is set up a second list. When one of your subscribers downloads the free report, require that they first subscribe to that second list. Make it part of the process; most downloads require this step so it's no big deal.

In AWeber > My Lists > Automation all you need do is set up an Automation Rule whereby when they subscribe to List #2, they are automatically deleted from List #1.

          Simple.
