Does any one have some ideas for blog posts?

I think I have writer's block with my blog. I am in the copywriting business, but ideas do not have to be in that area.

Anything would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Sarah Johnson

    Hi Sarah

I just checked your blog and noticed that your most recent post has ten points.

If I were you, I would make each point a separate post and flesh them out a bit more (maybe a new one every day).

Also, a copywriting blog is an ideal vehicle for identifying any examples of good/bad/indifferent pieces of copy from all types of media and analysing them from your own viewpoint. What do you like about them? Why does that particular copy work? That sort of thing.

You'll never run out of examples to comment on.

    Best,

A quick surefire way to run out of ideas is to write on the same thing all the time. Broaden your horizons a bit. Your subject boils down to ways a business can improve their sales.

Pay attention to what the top business bloggers in your field are writing about. You are going to have an opinion of the things that they talk about that will fuel new content.

Here are some bloggers, that you may know of, that talk about copy and a whole lot more:

    Hi Sarah,

When I need ideas I use the "who, what, when, where, why, and how" journalists approach to a subject or niche.

For your copywriting blog you can research "who" is the number one copywriter and "why". Or "why" copywiting is important. "where" can you learn more about it. "When" should you hire a copywritier. "How" do you find a good copywriter.

After I get started on one or two of those ideas start flowing again.

@Frank- Good idea about breaking a post into multiple ones. Thanks.

@fh2903- Thanks for the thoughts. I definitely think broadening my topics is needed.

@Matt- I love your "who, what, when, where, why, and how" approach. I will definitely be incorporating that idea.

@Mark Wright- I might just do that. Thanks.

    Hi Sarah,

For blog post ideas, go to Google.com Use a forward slash and the word alerts after it. You need to enter a topic or keyword relevant to your niche. You can set up several different alerts and have several different keywords. Google will send you a summary of all new sites indexed with your keyword term.

    Good luck.

I use the google alerts deal for ideas all the time - but I have blog alerts set up to be emailed to me every day. Then I have a folder in my email - anytime I get short on ideas, I just hit that folder and start browsing through...

A useful side effect is I find a lot of blogs and articles that I can add useful comments to as well - all part of spreading the love!

@rpaolucci- Thanks for the idea. I plan on trying it out.

@JosefBenjaminR- Good thinking. As long as Michel doesn't run out of ideas (which I am sure he won't) then I won't either.

@GB2008- I love the idea of having blog alerts emailed to me. Commenting on other blogs is a VERY useful side effect. I try to do that often.

    Thanks,
    Sarah
