Let me start by saying I'm not a Craigslist marketer. I'm logged into my CL account now and it has been 11 months since the last time I made a post. I only have 1 account and I re-verified it by phone yesterday, using the same number I used last year when I made my last post.

I made a post yesterday in the jobs category because I'm looking for someone to help me out with something. I made a very detailed post, and then CL asked me to phone verify, yada yada, which I did with no problems.

I got the email asking me to verify that I wanted to post it, and I clicked the link and CL told me my ad was live. I clicked their link to verify this and *poof* it is there. In fact, it is still there today with that link.

The problem is that it is not showing up if I use their directories to go there. I live in a small city, and the category that I chose gets maybe 1 post ever 1-2 weeks, so mine should be at the top. There's nothing showing in that category since May 4th, though.

The ad also doesn't show up if I search for it.

Can anyone that actually uses Craigslist give me some help? I will PM the link to the ad to you so you can see it if you'd like.

Thanks in advance,

Sounds like your ad is ghosted. Could be because it triggered a spam flag (maybe too many links, spam words like "make money", etc.) or it could be that your whole account is flagged and any posts that you make will be ghosted.

Take a look at your ad and see if there would be any reason that it would throw up a red flag. If there's no reason then it's probably your account and you will have to create a new one. Also keep in mind that Craigslist keeps track of your location by i.p. and if you're trying to post in a city far away or multiple cities there's a good chance they will be ghosted.

    Dan:

I've thought of all of thought. None of it applies.

My ad is here in the city in which I live. There are no links whatsoever, not even an email address. I've told people to apply through the CL cloaked email link. I just outline the job, let them know they'll be making a % of the fee, and give a few guidelines as to what I'm looking for.

No income claims, no "make money now," nothing. It's a standard "now hiring" post.

Sounds like its been ghosted! Craigslist can be very sticky when posting jobs. Good luck.

Instead of just issuing a one-liner and wishing me good luck, how about giving me a little information?

I've been using this account on Craigslist with no problems since 2008. I've posted jobs with it, personals ads, getting rid of stuff around the house...all kinds of things and I have never had a problem. I have over 100 posts in the account history and none of them was ever "ghosted" as you call it.

The compensation part always manages to trigger a flag on my ads, I don't know why though. I didn't think I was that sketchy lol

I have never heard of an ad going live and then being ghosted for no apparent reason. Weird. Can you try reposting it with slightly different wording? Delete the old one and try it again?

Hi, if you send me the link to the ad, I'll take a look. I use Craigslist regularly.

Thanks for that helpful bit of completely related information. Not sure how it helps to answer my question, but I'm very happy you shared you paranoia with the rest of us.

If you read the terms and conditions you should be sweet. Most people do not bother, and then jump up and down when their account gets banned.

I have had some buggy things like this happen on craigslist to me to. It seems to only happen to some accounts so I suppose I am triggering something in the system.
