difference between camrec and camproj in camtasia??..

Hello all,

I think I am managing to confuse myself. Spent most of the day trying to learn camtasia.

This may sound a very basic question - but could someone explain to me WHAT the actual difference between a camrec and a camproj file are??

The training vids tell me what to do with them - but I can't find any description as to what the difference between the two is.

Thank you all very much. It's me alone here, with glass of wine, and some guys voice from the Techsmith vids (whom I'm beginning to feel strangely attracted to....)

A camrec is the raw recording of a single screen capture...the actual video itself.

A camproj is basically a bunch of information that tells Camtasa how to COMBINE the various media (including camrecs) to product a project. It doesn't contain any source media itself.

camproj is the project files for your video creation

camrec is the proprietary recording format.

You'll want to edit your video into whatever fromat you want for sharing this content, whether its for blogs, web sites,, or whatever.

Camtasia is helpful in telling you what file format you want to product video for sharing with, so just follow their recommendations, render the video, upload to your site and see how it looks and plays

When converting your video to the final output format, do we convert from the camrec or the camroj?

Useful answers will be appreciated!

It's better to convert from camproj, especially if your video has zooms, callouts, adjustments in audio volume levels, pans, and other enhancements.

Great info and you too Daniel. I myself hadn't given much consideration to this as I would just go through the process of producing the videos. But it's a great question with great answers.
