I wanted to share few thoughts here that helped me to get out of incessant race of buying new tools and rushing from one guru to another.

I have plenty, far more than enough tools on my HDD, like most of you here. But the Realization came that it is NOT Tools that we need but to elaborate our own Strategy, Approach and Objective in Internet marketing.

What I was doing wrongly before, was buying/getting Tools and later attempting to match my online strategies TO those tools... - WRONG way!

While in fact I had to do totally opposite: to decide on my Working plan, Overall strategy and View of Online business and after having defined my priorities, tastes and goals, after coming up with general approach and technical model, THEN only to see WHICH tools might satisfy those objectives!

Then everything have immediately came into right order. I was able to define what I wanted to achieve, WHAT exactly I wanted to sell and then - HOW (general approach). When this was achieved, then picking Right Tools for this task was a breeze - since they are abundant.

My conclusion wast that it is important WHAT we sell first, and only then - HOW we do that. If your WHAT is right, then your HOW will be easy to get right too.

Next, there should be a PASSION in our work. If we don't really love what or how we do to make money, we will fail to deliver great product.

Often I was buying flashing products that promised fast money or assured income, BUT....i didn't necessarily LIKED using those methods. Because of that, my work was done half-heartedly and dropped in a midway. Reason? I didn't have passion for what I was doing, and having only a motivation to make money was NOT enough to make me happy and efficient in this work.

Now I decided WHAT I want to sell (exactly which products!), which resulted in rekindling Passion and necessary Energy for accomplishing it.

You need to LOVE what you are doing, every single moment of it, otherwise, you won't make it true!

When I defined overall goal and approach,it was very easy to decide on which tools to use for it.

Truth is that MOST of us here ALREADY know how to build sales funnels and apply numerous marketing techniques and tools. Reason why we, having all this knowledge still don't succeed, is exactly this, - what I have just described above.

Sincerely hope this insight will help many of my friends here as it helped me.

    Swordmaster,

I cannot agree with you enough. My path followed yours. I was a constant consumer and not a producer. I had the awakening one day when I realized how hard I was working and what results I was getting.

As soon as I changed that mindset, boy did my results change.

    Great post!

ah one of the better threads that I´ve read here. I silently realized the same thing: Start Uploading stop downloading. Do 80/20 and start producing more than consuming. Consuming is important but immediately apply what you learn and confirm by getting the results, then amplify put your own twist on it and start uploading that method in your own niche.

Great post! Many many ppl even here on this forum mix up marketing tools and marketing approach. when someone asks for help with approach he gets a lot of tools delivered as answers, that will not help a bit! If you don't know what you are doing it will not help you at all to know what to do it with ...

Good post, but I would add one more thing.

Maybe you did this when you were deciding what to sell, but to spell it out for others, you also have to decide who you want to sell to. Take fitness videos, for example.

The videos you make and the groups of people you target have to sync up. You wouldn't offer the same video to a high school athlete and a senior who just wants to ache less in the morning.

    Thumbs up!

Great insights. We really do have to look inward to see our patterns so that we can improve upon them..

For me the shiny objects was never a problem.

When I first started out I instantly saw the value of investing in High Quality Premium Coaching or a few high ticket programs that were going to pay back huge dividends.

Problem was I did not have the resources for those investments.

So even thou I knew I was taking the slow long route I did what I had to do to get where I wanted to be. And still proceeding with that formula to this day.

One word I tend to use alot is creativity. There is always a way.

You can align yourself with people you want to learn from by affiliating with their products or services, joining their groups if they offer them or just plain ask them if there is anything you can do to increase their business.

You may be surprised how much leverage you can gain if you have an open mind and the fortitude.

I'm going to very respectfully give an alternative view to the common norm... it seems like this post is full of the same stuff that many IM proponents have put forward over the years, and if it works for them then of course they're going to promote this point of view. It's worked for the OP, he's promoting it, and it's brought people positivity in some way, shape or form, and he's to be thanked for that.

    I'm different...
I NEVER found a niche I was "super passionate" about.
I found something I was good at but that wasn't something I was passionate about, it was a micro-niche, and it still made me four figures a month through creating my own digital products I ran and sold from my laptop computer.

In general terms I agree with the OP, but it's not enough, and before too long I'll likely put up some YouTube videos about my FULL views to share with everyone. There's a critical point missing, and here it is...

If you have a passion it's assumed you'll be 1) very knowledgeable about a subject, and 2) you'll have the motivation to continue until you make your millions.

    In answer...
    1) My experience is that I simply don't have a "passion" that can be monetised effectively, rather I have experience and skills in areas that I've been able to effectively monetise and make good money from from scratch and knowing nothing about IM initially...

    2) If you have a business that is making you good money, again in my experience, even if it's in an area you have even a dislike for, you get somewhat passionate about it because it's making you bulk cash!

I was making decent money online in an industry (online gaming) that I didn't have a lot of enthusiasm for anymore, but I knew a lot about, and I became passionate about that micro-business because I could see the value and results I was bringing my customers and that was SUPER motivating. I felt a connection to them, and I wanted to do the absolute best I could for them.

    In short...
If you don't have a passion for something DO NOT despair... if you have better knowledge than many in ANY area/niche then that is enough to start an online business catering to that niche/market.

Again, all respect to the OP, his words are on the mark, but just not for everyone.
    Take care all,
    M

I can relate to both the OP and Mark Y.

In a Mind Warriors thread I mentioned the discipline or lack of it in how it effects people who all of a sudden find themselves with a huge sum of cash.

That is one scenario you will certainly find out quickly what you are really passionate about.

Would you even log in to the forum again ever? I would but along with more resources my exact focus would change as well.

I would still be trying to outsource my self entirely.

But the entrepreneur in me is natural and automatic for me like fitness. It's forever.

This is definitely a workable way to go. It sounds to me like you, dare I say it, developed a passion for the people in your microniche. You may not have been all that excited about the topic anymore, but you definitely sound like you were/are excited about helping and serving your market.

And yes, sometimes that is plenty.

It says a lot about what's going on here when a 2012 thread has this sort of "revival", doesn't it?

At least - this time - the OP is still active here. That's good.
