I have a question for those who are involved in Site Flipping.
I accept payment with Paypal. We put nothing in writing. I'm so worried about fraudulent claims of "I never got my item," etc. I was thinking about sending an email to each buyer, once everything is in place, and asking them to copy it into a new email message and send it back to me. The email would say something to the effect of "I paid, I got my website, and I am completely satisfied." Whatta ya think? Does anyone else participate in this type of CYA stuff? |

If your websites are good and your clients - happy, you should not worry about chargebacks. But if you would like to be 100% sure about your deals, than why don't you sign a simple contract with the buyer. You can even sign digital contracts, which makes the things a lot more easy. Just search Google for "digital contracts" or "online contracts"

Don't accept payment using Paypal, it's a great way for you to get ripped off. Instead use one of those escrow services that hold payment until you are both happy. Have a look at escrow.com.

PayPal wont find in their favor since it's a digital item. They could claim fraud/hacked account though.
As far as the email, thats no proof as it can be easily forged. Garrie |

State your Terms and Conditions clearly. This happens with merchant accounts as well.
Be clear to your customers that this what they are looking for, this would reduce the rate of refund. I bought a product that had a claim for something and when I got a product, it wasn't what I wanted. I'll definitely ask for a refund for that matter. It's misleading. Furthermore, a PayPal dispute takes forever to solve. I've been there. |

If someone opens a dispute for the transaction, tell the following to the paypal representative:
"I already paid the actual service provider and transferred the domain to the buyer. This operation cannot be reversed from my side. I would be happy to refund the owner of the dispute if he transfers the domain back to me" .... or something like this. A friend of mine applies the same method and wins the disputes every single time. |

Yeah, unfortunately, a LOT of members of this forum would beg to differ. If someone is a scammer they don't have morals and a conscience. It's not like they would only ask for a refund of a lousy product.

Sometimes you can get chargebacks but paypal complaints will be found in your favour as its a none tangiable item. If anyone every did a chargeback you can request the website be put back in your name as it was fraud.

"If your product is good even leechers and scammers won't chargeback.") is a bit... naive, if you pardon me saying it. Leechers and scammers (by definition) will indeed chargeback, regardless of the product quality .. that's why they are scammers :P If they didn't they would just be regular customers, not scammers ![]() anyway, I though it was funny too... But back to the topic and the Opening Post: I would suggest to use an escrow service too... it will make payment a little more complicated but it could also help (if presented and worded adeguately) increase sales by offering a better sense of safety and customer protection...just like guarantees should work... For example [not to be taken word by word, but you get my drift] "buy [service/product] from us: we believe our customers have the right to be protected and we will not take your money until you are satisfied with your [service/product]. We also take pride in our work and are so sure you'll be proud and satisfied as well that we are willing to wait before receiveing payment until you have declared your satisfaction too!" Or something like that... basically try and turn something that will complicate the payment procedure and therefore interfere (maybe negatively) with your conversion rate, into something that portrays you as better than the competition, someone who cares more for the safety of your customers... in this age of electronic dangers and online scammers - make your customers feel safer with you (and be safer yourself in the process, but they don't need to know that, eheheh ) ciao, Saul

Why do all of you give the op bad advice.
Don't use paypal. WTF?! Its all in the product. Do you have any idea how many customers will you lose if you just use escrow. Not everyone has an escrow account. But almost all of us have a paypal account. Go for escrow if your product costs a few hundred. You must save your customers time. All of them probably have their own paypal account. And most of the people are lazy and will skip your offer if you make them buy through escrow only, I personally would. Escrow is secure but is used for stuff like site flipping where you have to make sure you won't get scammed. You don't have the be afraid of anything. Scammers exists and will exist. But buyers exist too. Make it easy for them to purchase. After all you can even use both. |

Then it's ok.
You are risking your account being limited if using paypal for site flipping transactions. escrow seems the right way then. cheers |

whenever we do a website we provide 12 months free hosting, not only does this sound like a good deal to the end user, if they dont pay or do a chargeback we pull the site down!
![]() we use joomla and since it wont work without the database it makes it difficult for the end user to rip the site... unless of course they know what you are doing... also be selective of who you sell too... although saying that someone just charged $247 to a US creditcard through an AOL IP but turns out they are Armenia and the credit card details are stolen.... what really annoyed me paypal didnt tell me the transaction was fraudulent untill 3 days later instead they said they where investigating it.... had i known it was fraudulent i would not have allowed them access to the site period since i have digital media on there... |

![]() Another way to protect yourself if you feel 'iffy' about the buyer. ...also another great escrow service if you do decide to go that route is at moniker.com...very hands on assistance there and uber-responsive support staff...and they deal only in domains.
