Pinterest Changes...?

wth...I just noticed that not only has Pinteerst added advertising to their site (it showed up on my Pin Board at the bottom), but when I went to pick the category I wanted to pin something in I apparently ended up clicking on a link that took me somewhere else. I'm the one that created the category! I had to go back and highlight instead to pin my pic.

Don't like these changes. I get they are avenues for Pinterest to make money but still...in fact wonder how you get your ads on there? :confused:Just thinking out loud now.

I'm using AdBlock so I haven't seen any ad... But it's not surprising, it was to be expected that at some point they'd monetize the site.

Do you use Facebook ? Then you can make money just by inviting people to a Facebook group ! It's called the Instant Income System. How cool is that?

I personally haven't seen any ads on Pinterest thus far either. That would really ruin it all. Be curious to see a screenshot of the ads.

I recently clicked on a photo to get a better description and was blocked by a sign up form with the statement that we must now "register" before we can proceed.

I thought it was Pinterest's new rule so I did.

What that did, however, was download an adware called Clicksor onto my computer. Anti virus and Malwarebytes could not find it. I finally had to have a tech guy get rid of it.

Be careful not to opt in to anything if you get blocked.

Hi, if you still know how to get to that pin then you should report it to Pinterest stating what it does so Pinterest can remove it / block the account.

My pinterest doesn't show any ad as well. It is still the same. You may want to check whether you computer is healthy as you might have accidentally downloaded or installed some pop up.

The giant ecommerce company Rakuten just invested $100 million dollars in Pinterest with the stated intention of using Pinterest to drive traffic to their own offers and commerce partners.

Confirmed: Pinterest Raises $100 Million From Rakuten, Prior Backers
"...Rakuten already pins on Pinterest through at least a couple of official accounts: Rakuten Commerce and Rakuten Travel.

On the other hand, there is Rakuten’s existing e-commerce presence in the country. Mikitani notes that 75 percent of Japan’s internet population — equivalent to about 80 million people — already have a Rakuten ID — this is similar to an Apple ID, or an Amazon ID, in that there are payment details associated with it.

It is this ID that will pontentially become the lynchpin of a commercial service on Pinterest: “We want to enable our users to pin their own images with our ID,” he says. “Users can click and buy with it, and in the future we can create more new services.”

I'm still not seeing any ads. Perhaps they are bringing it in only in certain areas to start off with?

@valmillercorl- I havent seen any ads either.. Maybe because I have adblock as well. If you are not sure what something is you can always type it in google and that will answer your questions. This is what I do mostly to do my research. That is just a tip.

Adblock is an extension application. AdBlock is a content-filtering and ad blocking extension for the Google Chrome and Apple Safari web browsers. AdBlock allows users to prevent page elements, such as advertisements, from being displayed.

    Hope that helps

    valmiller,

You'd probably need to pay to advertise on Pinterest. All sites want to make money and I am sure Pinterest wants to cash in.
