Are Affiliate Earning Websites Valued the Same as Adsense sites?

I have a clothing site I get affiliate sales off and was going to sell recently. I was asking for ~14x revenue, it was established in 2010; just to clear the picture.

How exactly are Affliiate program earners valued in comparison to Adsense sites?

I dont put adsense on the affiliate site because i dont want visitors to click on adsense , when I can earn $36 for less than 1,000 impressions per month.

Get back to me.

That is a very good question....

I have found from my own experience that every niche is different.

Some of my sites in the high end niches I make most of my money from an affiliate product where the commissions are high but I have then found that adsense makes just a good simple income....

What i like about adsense is that it is fairly recession proof as the visitor doesnt have to buy anything and so you still make money.

All I can suggest is test you may find a great converting aff product

Buyers at the lower end of the market tend to favour Adsense sites, but once you get into the $10k+ range multiples are similar.

It would depend on the affiliate program, though and what you're promoting.

If you're promoting a single product from a single vendor then the multiple would suffer due to the high risk.

If you're promoting a range of products, in an evergreen niche, on a platform like Amazon, then you'd expect a higher multiple.

It does ultimately depend on the buyer, though. I probably have more Adsense site buyers than affiliate site buyers, so overall the multiples would be slightly lower.

You clearly didn't read his question properly.

Your view on Adsense is also slightly naive... good luck maintaining consistent earnings if your visitors clicking on ads aren't also buying on the other side...

Danny and Thomas both have a valid point but I tend to side more with Danny...provided that you have good, relevant content for buying keywords to attract your visitors in the first place AdSense is very consistent and genuine traffic does convert on the other end for advertisers as well...that's kinda why its been working all this time.

Danny's answer was completely off topic and didn't even answer the question.

The OP was asking whether Adsense sites are valued the same as affiliate sites... this has absolutely nothing to do with which one is "best", purely which would sell for the most on the open market.

As a buyer I'd be giving your primary affiliate partners a very close look - I felt the brands had a lot of life left in them, and a lot of credibility, I'd value it much higher than an affiliate program without.

Google adsense is seen as a relatively stable long term source of revenue. Buyers simply want to make sure that their investment will last long enough to pay off for them.

As I think its already been said, it is dependent on your market type. Typical values from my experience range from between x8 for lower end markets that either dont generate much traffic or you dont have an authority site, and up to x15 for stronger markets where your authority has already been established and it can continue to grow. I know its a fair range to give you, but for clothing, id probably market between 10 to 12 times the monthly revenue as a typical listing price to start with, failing that fall to the 8 times, or hold on to it.

I also think you may want to reconsider the adsense advertisements. if the visitor cant find what they are looking for on your site, you are missing out on a potential additional income stream which could be seen to increase the potential sale value of your website.

    thanks everyone for the feedback.

I've found someone willing to give about 11.2x the offer.

Going to roll with it. I disagree from my own testing however, adsense + affiliate is better. It may work that way with some sites but nothing in the fashion / clothing world i've seen.
