How NOT to win your readers over...

I just got an email from a marketer saying:

"You've been selected for a Beta Test
as you've been identified as someone
who has been failing at making money
online for years."

Way to win over your readers, dude! Hilarious!

Admittedly, this was from some spam site. But lately, it's not surprising to get this kind of trash from actual Internet Marketers. I am amazed at how many people use tricks just to get you to open their emails!

My point... if you have to use "tricks" to get your emails opened then your list is made up of the wrong people. You need to create a list of "raving fans" by offering actual value and building a relationship. There is plenty of info around on how to do this yet 99% of emails seem to be still using methods that turn GOOD subscribers away.

Yes, some of these tricks work, and yes, you can make some decent cash using them... but personally (in MY own personal opinion) my conscience can't live with tricking people into doing stuff that does nothing but line my pockets.

Regards

Ben

PS: Take Frank Kern for example. Some of his subject lines wouldn't get opened if they were from anyone else but him. But because they are from him, they get opened. He doesn't need to use "tricks" because he has created a raving fan base by creating value and building a relationship with his readers. I wish more Internet Marketers would take this approach too! It's no wonder I.M. is getting a bad name in the Press.

Right Ben... There's too many internet marketers who are spamming the hell out of their list and burning their subscribers.
For example I subscribed to a big name Guru's affiliate list and instead of receiving tips on how to better promote as an affiliate or insights into good products to promote, what do I receive? Promo, after promo, after promo... and I'm on the affiliate list, I can't imagine how many more emails his actual subscribers get!

This is why my approach is to give value first, in fact many of my emails don't even contain a link to a product.
It might require a bit more work than just sending copy & paste promos, but I think that in the long run it will pay much more in terms both of money and satisfaction (both for me and my subscribers).

Shiva is right, I subscribed to 3 guru's and now my mail count went from 700 to over 1000 in 3 months. They send out up to 1-3 per day, whats so special about these mails when they send a new 12 hours later?

    Something to learn there

      Exactly... it's sad isn't it.

Try this for a laugh... go through all the I.M. emails you've received over the last 7 days and add up how much money you would have spent if you had bought everything that was "highly recommended" by the authors.

      It's laughable!

Counting that most of them are promoting the exact same product? How many times do I have to buy it?!? lol

I don't care if it's 1 email/month or 10 emails per day... as long as they give something valuable in the email I might read it, but when it's spam after spam...
I simply cannot understand how they can be making so much money by sending crap.
