Okay so this post is going to be kinda of brief but I am going to lay out some of the strategies I use to getting a good domain for the best price.

1st off do your domain research and find out if you can profit from the domain. SEMRush is my fav tool and they have it in Flippa – Deals for 50% off. Which is awesome.

1. When you find that worthy domain be the first bidder and bid a reasonable price even if it has a low reserve. ex. If you believe that the site will sell for 600$ then start the bidding immediately at $400.

Why do this? Well it does two things. 1st it will keep you away from the low valued competition bidders that raise the price 5$ every minute. And 2nd it will decrease the number of bids that is listed on the domain which will give it a perceived lower value.

2. ALWAYS Message the buyer before the auction closes. I love this strategy and no one else is using it. Flippa will not let you communicate with the buyer after the auction has expired. However if you simply message him and ask a simple question, and then when the auction expires below the reserve price. Immediately email him and make him an offer.

Let's say the reserve price was $600 and the auction ended unsold with the highest bid of $425. Message him ASAP and offer $450 - $475. The buyer has 2 options here, to take your offer or to relist the site and pay another Flippa listing fee.

This trick has worked well for me.

3. This one could be borderline harsh but, when I want a domain that has had a recent drop in traffic, instead of private messaging the seller, just ask comment on his listing something like “Why did you traffic drop during the period of X & Y???” This will keep other potential bidders from being so bid happy.

4. When buying a domain that was primary Adsense based, don't discount the fact that you could use other methods to increase your potential revenue. CPA offers, Amazon, Infolinks. Don't just settle for what was working for the seller.

That's all for now. I am interested in some other good methods, if anybody has any, please share! Thanks!
