How can I built a WordPress site in my computer offline? Without purchasing a domain.

Is there a program maybe I can download and use as servers to build the site offline?

You can insall a local WAMP (Windows Apache MySQL PHP) server WampServer, the web development platform on Windows - Apache, MySQL, PHP
I'm assuming you're using window$ here of course. I don't know if there's an equivalent for mac. I'm allergic to any type of proprietary software anyway... I'm using a Slackware Linux server here with OpenSUSE 12.1 workstations.
