Fiverr Scams

Good advice.

I have found some really great people on Fiverr. A friend of mine who has a hair and beauty forum hired two different people (a male & a female) to write posts on her forum and they were amazing.

One of the Fiverr forum posters actually kept posting even after her gig was finished and she had been paid. She just liked the hair forum site and hung around to continue posting on "her own time" This Fiverr lady offers 28 forum or blog posts and she is very honest. She has lots of regulars.

I found a guy in Australia who helped me fix my Tumblr site for just $5 and before that, no one could figure out what was broken and Tumblr would not respond.

Yes, there are some scammers there, but if you take your time and read the gigs, you can find some good people.

I personally haven't lost even a penny buying gigs on Fiverr and I've bought probably 20 in the past 2 months. Just remember - buyer beware.

There are a lot of these "my PR6 blog" offers on Fiverr now. I contacted one of the sellers and asked for the blog URL. She refused to give it to me. Her reasoning was fear of negative SEO.

That doesn't make any sense to me.

I think I'm going to buy some of these. When they turn out to be redirects, I'll expose the sellers on my blog and ask for my money back.

They actually do disallow gigs that make false claims.

But you have to report the gigs to their support team, and they will remove any jobs that are not legal, e.g. selling copyrighted software etc.

I recommended that they add a button to report illegal gigs, but unfortunately they have not done this, so you have to contact support with the gig details...

The biggest scam lately is the outrageous claims to get you 20K to 30K Facebook Fans for $5 and then say it'll take 10 -18 days to deliver.

Then within a week you'll get a message like this (this was a real one I got)

YEEAHH! YOUR ORDER IS READY!
me sended to your link it will take 78 hours to update dont worry thanks you so much for order come back soon

Fiverr waits 72 hours before they say the job is completely finished so that little extra time gives them a little money without having to complete the job. The smart ones set up enough fake accounts to praise the service to movie them up to a Level 2 for more of a legitimate look. The one above I put to the test hadn't had any replies for a month after a huge slew of positive ones but they all sounded like the same person had written them.

I've actually let Fiverr know several times about scam one, but they always say that unless you have an order, don't bother them. So I put in an order and let them know the results along with questioning why they're not listening to their experienced buyers to watch certain accounts. Otherwise, everyone will just start thinking everything on there is a big scam...but there's plenty of honest sellers actually doing what they promise.

It's just been the past few weeks that there's been a slew of scammers doing the same exact type thing. So the big thing to watch for is to see how long the person's had an account on Fiverr along with how long the job has been set up too. Many of these are created in the past day or so along with the account so that's a big flag to watch out for.

Fiverr waits until it's too late and many people get screwed over, but if you place an order and you get someone who claims it's delivered when it hasn't even begun, immediately let Fiverr know so you can get your money back before it's too late.

For Fiverr it doesn't really matter since when you get your money back, it just goes into your Fiverr balance so you can purchase something else on their site. They're in a win win, but if they get enough scammers screwing people over, another more reputable site will pop up and gladly take over and do a better job at vetting.
