I would agree with that short and clear definition.

Internet Marketing is an artificial bubble for those who still falsely believe they are detached from real world marketing.

Agreed... since when is "internet" marketing any different? It's all marketing.

The promotion of something for the purpose of selling it.

IM is a general term for "Work from Home". The term signifies those who are serious about it and those who are just considering it.

People who have already started "work from home" call it "Internet Marketing". Because it really is that: selling your/other people's products by marketing it on the internet.

People who wish they could "work from home" call it just that.

    Just my two cents.

To me Internet Marketing is just another medium for creating marketing campaigns and getting your product infront of a large TARGETED crowd.

IM is a great resource because once you know how, you can laser target your demographic.

      Just my 2

Wikipedia have said it all. So why must anyone say more?
Looks like a grand waste of time rephrasing wiki.

Marketing = Promoting to potential buyers.
Internet Marketing = Promoting to potential buyers, using the internet as a vehicle (rather than newspaper, radio, tv, etc).

Internet Marketing does NOT equal "work at home" or "make money online". It can include both, but those are just a tiny fraction of the marketing that occurs on the internet.

Oh my goodness. That is the most ridiculous thing I've read in a long time. The world has only scratched the surface of the marketing potential of the internet.

From a purely semantic viewpoint, "Internet Marketing" is the marketing of Internets.

How many Internets have you sold?

Hi Guys, see if you agree/disagree on this one.

Today, Internet Marketing is a much more Effective Form of Marketing as compared to Traditional Marketing like Papers, Radios and Magazines. It is marketing using the medium called the Internet, where there are approximately 2 Billion Internet Users who are potentially your customers, and another 5 Billion are waiting to jump on board.

I find that most people when trying to define Internet Marketing, tend to explain the "Know-How", rather than the "Know-Why". The "Know-How" of Internet Marketing are the Strategies of IM like Niche Marketing, SEO, Email Marketing and etc. The "Know-Why" is the Concept of Internet Marketing, and knowing that a lot of people these days used Internet as a way to create wealth, and their first pot of gold. In the Forbes List of the Top 50, the Billionaires who are below their 40s used the Internet to become rich at a younger age. They are Larry Page of Google (39), Sergey Brin of Google (38), Jeff Bezos of Amazon (48) and Mark Zuckerberg (27).

By yourself, without proper guidance and mentorship, a "Newbie" who first embarks on Internet Marketing will be bashing through a Thick Jungle. I can count myself lucky to have been mentored by a few Internet Marketing Gurus from Singapore, and to have benefited from their personal mentorship and guidance.

So what is Your Personal Experience with Internet Marketing? Are you guided by another Internet Marketing Mentor (Online/Offline) or are you a DIY person (Only reading Self-Help books and Online Tuturials)?

Two of the best 2 comments on this thread. Don't listen to all that scarcity people put out about hoe "crowded" the IM scene is getting. It's not.

I would say the unethical way of scamming people out of money online might be geting a little crowded now but certainly not mainstream Im.

It's a skill and a trade in itself

          I agree with you, Sean.

I think someone's "One-Liner" Definition of Internet Marketing really reveals the Level of the person's Intimate Understanding of Internet Marketing. Don't just rely on the Wikipedia Definition of Internet Marketing and follow according to what is being defined by Wikipedia or any other source on the Internet.

Final Conclusion: Education and Ethics of Internet Marketing is Very Important.
