Aweber vs. MailChimp? Help (and the great debate)

Seriously? You can promote other people's products using MailChimp?

I tried MailChimp when I first started. I found it very clunky and hard to use though I did like that it was free. And as J says you are not allowed to use affiliate links with them. They don't like marketers.

It is a pain to switch to another auto responder so best to get it right the first time.

I really like their TOS. It cracked me up when I looked at it just now, until I got to bullet point #3 underneath "Who Can Use Inmica Mail"

That's scary to me. They don't list out offenses like Mail Chimp did. I've never used Inmica, but that's enough reason for me to stick to aWeber. I've read here in the WF where others like GetResponse, so it may be worth checking out. I know nothing about it, though.

That's a neat feature, let us know aweber's response. I bet they don't have that option yet or at least not one as advanced as Getresponse's.

I've tried MailChimp, GetResponse... and Aweber. Aweber is on my top! And I know how good it is - because there's at least one good feature I use that even GetResponse don't have

Like I've been saying for years, autoresponder threads very seldom have accurate information. I'm not talking about preferences either, because people are going to have those, but people are usually just repeating something they've read somewhere else (and that information is usually off too).

As already pointed out, this is not true. Getresponse has a free trial. And their prices are comparable. If you had visited their website you would have known this.

Apples to oranges comparison. One is an autoresponder company and the other is a hosting company.

I've been using them for a little over a year and they are okay. Their customer service leaves a lot to be desired though, they really could learn from some of the market leaders.

While they're less expensive than a lot of other companies, I still prefer my Aweber account. I like their API, their interface, and their customer service has always been consistently good. And to add balance to this post, I also have a Getresponse account and have also been very satisfied with them too.

Just bear in mind that there are a lot of other companies out there such as Constant Contact, E-mail Aces, iContact, (insert 150 other companies in here) and there are also software providers, too many to list here (someone already mentioned Infusionsoft) and then there are total e-commerce solutions that also have autoresonders, again, too many to list here. There are also a dearth of self-hosted solutions (for the more advanced marketers who have the technical know-how and budget).

So, has anyone tried self hosted sofrware like these :

1. active campaign downloaded edition
2. interspire email marketer

for active campaign , for 500 usd you get a 50,000 subscriber licence . Also the active campaign API looks just awesome . their 1 million subscriber licence is 1800 usd .

for interspire the 1 user licence with unlimited subscribers is 495 usd and you get 12 months upgrades.

They look very tempting

I also use acyba.com for my joomla websites . I have 2x enterprise editions and i have good deliverability , usually higher than any other of the "usual" email marketing companies but the interface aint so good and the templates are crap so i use my own. About the higher email % It could be to the fact that all email from the dedicated server goes out through the godaddy email relay servers . As i understand godaddy monitors their mail servers status for spam flagging.

After split testing, mailchimp consistently received higher deliverability rates than aweber. I never tested with getresponse. iContact was also better than aweber, but mailchimp was the best.
