How Do I Use IM Techniques In MLM???

I am curious on how you can and if you should use different internet marketing techniques in a MLM that I am currently involved in. Do you have any specific tactics or advice that would help me incorporate these two elements of marketing in growing my business? Thanks.

Every mlm situation is different in some ways. The internet may
help you out or it may have you spinning your wheels. Probably
    the best use is email.

For a low-ticket program I sincerely recommend you advertise
offline and drive traffic to your lead-capture site. This way you
stand a chance of having some sort of "mind share" with prospects.
If you try to find them among the general internet crowd you'll
be trying to shout over the roar of an ocean.

If your product is of special interest to some non-opportunity
seeker groups you may find communities of them online who
    will be receptive.

Loren makes a good point bringing up the offline marketing aspect to help boost your business. Maybe a combination of print advertising and online ads that lead back to your landing page or website would boost traffic and response rate. I would say to get your website's name and url out in front of as many people as possible. It's always a numbers game!

I would definitely recommend a unique approach for using
IM strategies in MLM. When I was in direct sales/network marketing ,
my friend and partner used all the IM strategies (lead capture,
unique product angle, free report, introduce product, longtail
keywords, etc) in the world and STAYED AWAY from every
typical MLM strategy (replicated page, go the call at 6 pm, tell
your friends, make 100 dials, blah blah) and was very successful.

One of his USP's was that he had a training center for how to do
internet marketing FOR the specific MLM business, which was an
easy sell because it doesn't take a genius to realize that there's not
much leverage in "smiling and dialing" to a list of 1000
"opportunity" leads sold to 4 people last week

All great suggestions, I especially like the training center. It shows support from the upline. Thanks

I don't think the two are really that different except you have different goals. With IM you're trying to get them to click on a link, with MLM you're probably trying to get them to hand over their contact information. In the end I think the key will be good copywriting

I've been using IM for MLM - off and on - for a few years now. If you can find the right angle it works great and you can get some serious momentum. Best of all, once you have a system set up - from prospecting through to training - you are not working near as hard as many of the "old schoolers". With the extra time you can dabble in other IM activities and pump up your income.

It should be the same. MLM should be growing now with the recession too...

Create squidoo / hub pages, articles and videos that target the keyword of the mlm company you are promoting. The best way to get traffic is when they are already looking up info on the company you promote.

If you can create a wealth of information and target these keywords (depending on your competition) you will have a very good chance of ranking highly. Why? because i've found that alot of people involved in mlm aren't using the leverage of the internet and are solely following the sheep with the offline prospecting strategies...

My advice to you is to go through James Grandstaff's stuff, especially http://DownlineSecrets2.com ( no affiliate link )

That guy knows how build big downlines and also created a downline building script
    that is plug and play.

Plus he's a great internet marketer, so he shows network marketers how to work
    network and internet marketing together.

Definitely someone to watch and learn from when it comes to that stuff.

Plus he's my homie which is why I know his stuff is legit.
