How to build a relationship with your payment processor...

I have seen several postings here on the forum (which I replied to) and in addition I received a bunch of PMs with respect to which payment processor I have been using and how to best deal with these guys. So, in the hopes that I am not violating any rules I am posting the link to my former payment and credit card processor here:

Online Credit Card & Payment Processing

A friend of mine started this company some ten years ago (and sold it 5 years into it for about $25 million) and I have literally built two multi-million dollar companies using them as my main payment processor. They were ok with annual pre-billing (which many processors used to shy away from) and even the occasional unexpected one-off huge charge that I had to run through wasn't a problem. Their rates were good and I never had to deal with reserves or surprises (i.e. holding my funds), which happened to me a few times before.

As with any payment and credit card processor, it is vitally important that you actually build a real relationship with them. Get to know your account rep and make contact with their risk management group. Talk to them and find out what you can do to always make them feel comfortable with your business from a risk management perspective. Call them up before you do a huge product launch so you don't freak them out with a huge wave of sudden charges that is completely out of your normal processing pattern. After a while you will have build a solid relationship and can almost do no wrong anymore.

Please let me know how your own experience with these guys is.

Happy processing...
