My First Solo Ad Campaign

Hey guys,

I am going to brand myself for the IM niche which I will be building a list on.

And I have a few questions.

What is the best way to start with my solo ad campaign?

Should the link from my solo ad go to a squeeze page:

1. That offers a free IM ebook/report

2. Pre-sell the product which will show directly after the opt in

3. Other better ways to do it?

Would be grateful of your input.

Many thanks.

Always send solo ad subscribers to a squeeze page Mr Lover.
Yes, offer a free report, just make sure when they read it that they are not disappointed...first impressions enall that.
You can send them to an incredible offer that is valuable to them after they sign up. Actually, if you haven't got a sales funnel in place then this is probably the best way for you to try to get some sort of return from your initial investment.

Personally i never send someone to a paid offer just after i promised them a free one, but that's just me. Just remember that your number one goal is to not make sales, but to provide as much value as possible. It's all about relationship building.

I just wrote a blog post on the The Basic Science of Marketing that you may find a useful read.

    Best of luck.

ps..when buying solo ads, start off by testing the waters. Pay for the lowest possible amount to see what your conversion rate is and whether your initial investment was worth the money.

      Great tips retsced. Thanks!

If a solo ad works well, would you be buying more with the same provider but then offering a different product or freebie this time? Or is it ok to sell the same product and give away the same freebie?

Yes, your solo ad provider will send your offer to a segment of their list. When you use them again they will send your offer to different people on his/her list. Actually, something i here very few people mention on here, is that, you should communicate with your ad provider. If they are going to send their own swipe file to their list, then ask them for a copy of the swipe file. Some won't give you the swipe, but some will. You can then take a look at the email they are going to send and learn from it.

That makes sense to me now. I'm all new to all these so I'm really thankful for your explanation.

Are there any particular reputable places to buy solo ads for the IM niche? It's somewhat daunting to venture into something new so some direction would really help.

It depends on your goals, your budget, and the kind of list your are renting on your solo ad campaign.

Many people say you want to send to a "buyers" list, where the people on the list have already bought something on line. If you sell a similar product for a similar price, you may be able to build your list and get paid to do it.

If you are just trying to build a list quickly, the Free IM/ebook/report will work. You'll recapture your spent monies over time.

If you want to build a list more slowly, but pay back your expenditure more quickly, pre-selling the product with email from the list owner may work best.

When it comes to your solo advertisement, you should try to offer an e-book or program that people will find useful and is loaded with valuable information.

Of course send these people to a squeeze page where they will need to provide you with their contact information in order for them to receive the free gift.

Thanks Bobmackie1, if it were in the IM niche, would people expect some report that are higher level rather than say a free report for beginners?

I suppose it depends on the recipient of the newsletter, but then, how are we suppose to know? Anyway to get around this?

    Hi Internet Lover...

One thing I would also suggest, along with everything that has already been covered, is to be sure you track your own links to be sure you are receiving what you were promised. Most people who sell solo ads are good, honest people...but there are those who are complete shiesters. Make sure you check their reputations with others who have bought from them in the past. Check on their conversion rates as well. If you are giving a free report, (even if it's high quality) to a load of freebie seekers, your conversions are not going to be good. You owe it to yourself to check this out before spending any money.
    Hope this helps
