Beginners Nightmare - What's holding you back?

We all had to start somewhere and sometimes it's easy to forget just how overwhelming it can be in the beginning. Firstly if you've never worked for yourself then although it might seem appealing that can be the first daunting prospect to face.

Then once you start to learn about "Internet marketing" a common problem can be losing direction and the old favorite of "information overload" but if you haven't really found the success you set out to achieve yet what's holding you back?

I'd say stop just thinking about doing "Internet Marketing."

Choose your method (business model) and then create your plan (business plan) and remember that you won't get very far without...

Taking Action!

Don't over-complicate things and focus on achieving some small wins first and then move forward from there.

There's a lot of helpful people in the forum so why not post the problems you're facing here in this thread or feel free to get in touch.

Thank you for this post, NeilC. I certainly agree with the part about not over-complicating things; it is so easy to get distracted by all the new "stuff" parading before us from all directions.

I am sort of a perfectionist so I want a polished product from the very start. I have seen some products that are doing well for their creators - information products that are really ugly in their visual presentation or websites with lots of poor grammar and horrid color schemes. But the end result is profit.

I appreciate your post. It gives me inspiration to "move on" and get it done.

I agree that information overload is an absolute demotivator. You just need to take it in little steps and structure your workload.
    Keep reminding yourself-

Some people want it to happen...
Some people wish it would happen...
    Others make it happen.

"Information overload" is usually caused by trying to learn too many different methods at once.

So try to concentrate on one main method to start with and it should be less of a problem and you'll be more effective as well.

Excellently put! It is so tempting to start one method of business, to then think the "grass is greener" when you read about some other method.

I love the advice I read from one marketer, he suggested you continue with a method until you have made at least $50. By that time you will know whether it is the one for you. Then and only them move on to another method if you feel it is the right way to go.

I think trying to make steady progress and actually achieving results is much better than just hoping to hit it lucky at some point so a $50 target seems reasonable for an early goal.

If funds are tight and you can get to making just $50 a week profit you can then use that to re-invest and really speed up your progress.

      Sounds familiar and you're right.

One Method - Focus - Take Action.

For sure man! It's TOO easy to get distracted out there...and by "out there" I mean here, in the Warrior Forum, looking at dumb a$$ cat videos or whatever you're into is too much. It's necessary to have a degree of control over your focus on the computer and that's something I'm finally coming to grips with.

Distractions are always there waiting for you so get organized with time for work and set some other time aside for learning or just browsing.

So despite beginners' tendencies to jump from one method to another it seems obvious that it's best to stick with one main method to be most effective.

But which method do you think is best for beginners?

Personally I would still go with having your own website. You can start with a small niche website but if you set it up the right way it's easy to build it up over time into an authority type website if that's what you want to do.

Then it's mainly a case of focusing on how you want to get visitors to your site.
