camtasia video on amazon s3

8 replies
I want to stream my camtasia vid on an amazon s3 and have already setup bucket name that matches subdomain name. Normally my blog post code hosted on hostgator looks like this: <script type="text/javascript"><!--
var so = new SWFObject( "video/mirror5.swf", "csSWF", "640", "498", "9.0.28", "#1a1a1a");

Does anyone know what the code should look like to pull video from s3 instead of from my hostgator account?
I think the video/mirror5.swf needs changed but hasn't worked so far.

      Nice landing page and good use of white space.

      I uploaded my files w/ s3 fox organizer but still not playing.
      Once they're uploaded is there anything else that has to be done within amazon?

    Hi John

    I actually use Camtasia to make yy files in MP4 or if you have an older version then use FLV.

    There are so many plugins that you can just add the file and away you go.

    Here is a sample I copies from Skype and serve from amazon for my clients.

    I converted it to MP4 and just use the amazon link which you can generate from most bucket uploaders either the S3fox Firefox plugin try Cloudberry for a free uploader.

    Then just use the plugin for firefox. You onlny need to upload the flv or mp4. Swf have very little info in them so better to use flv or mp4. Plus you can make a jpg for the front. You will see when you check out the sample.

    Here is a sample.

    Here is another one for you which shows of Camtasia better.

    Hi! You need to set the file in S3 as "accessible by everyone"

    Kind regards,

      Hi Manuel. I double checked and the folder is accessible to everyone. I'm not sure what else could be the problem.

        Make sure it's not just the folder, but everything in the folder. When you set your PLC (sp?) to Read By All, there's also a checkbox to set everything in folder. Make sure it is checked. I've forgotten a few times and had nothing play.

          Thanks. I didn't have each file checked, just the folder. Still isn't working
          though but one less thing to cause trouble

    Am I missing something or changing the filename would be enough?

    Something like this:

    var so = new SWFObject( "http://mybucket.s3.amazonaws.com/video/mirror5.swf", "csSWF", "640", "498", "9.0.28", "#1a1a1a");

      Still not working. At this point it has to be something simple like that.
      I got the following error when I tried it as you suggested:
