Method for a one-off promotion of a specific niche product

Side project idea:happen to own what I'd call a unique niche product for 2 years. I haven't found many reviews, a few overviews in youtube (views in the thousands). It costs $500 so I think there is an opportunity for small affiliate income over time. I can provide in depth review with video, nobody has done this yet, just a few "overviews".
No list, and I have a new site but there is no content yet, not planning to enter this niche, this is a one-off because I happen to own it.

OK I am thinking about this:

1. Join appropriate retail affiliate program(s) (can't join amazon, I am in CT and they cancelled aff prog in CT.... oh well)
2. Create a video review of product in action for youtube.
3. Create a page (either my site, or maybe better on hubpages/squidoo/info barrel) where I review in text and embed my pics and video
4. maybe backlink a bunch of other blogs like wordpress.com/blogspot/tumblr/etc and link somewhere(thinking the youtube video itself?)

OK what do you think of my strategy?
Main questions:
1. should I use my site? or would a hub site be better since this is a one-off (hub will likely rank better)? As stated, won't likely build niche site around this area.
2. Will the backlinking to youtube help? Can I backlink to the hubpage I set up? (NOT if I use my own site because I think with the recent changes that will backfire right?).
3. should i post on multiple hub pages or article directories?
