OK, I've been doing great as far as SEO, linkbuilding, networking etc for my local sites. I have noticed though that I am not getting indexed in MSN Live for some reason. I am number one on Google and Yahoo for several terms, but nowhere to be seen on MSN? Does MSN usually take a lot longer or is there a trick to getting indexed quick with them? Thanks, Jim |

Live is slow to update. Also, many people say they won't scan your site if you don't have a robots.txt file.

I've often had just the opposite experience - slow to get on G and Y, fast at MSN. I don't know why (and Lord knows I've tried figuring it out). I will note that if you use a descriptive alt text for your images, they can actually get you traffic from Live. I have a site where the main header graphic with a descriptive alt text in the code showed up on the first page at MSN for weeks in their images search function. I was getting 200+ unique visitors/day for that time. It's since dropped to page 3, but it was a fun ride! John |

Well, my sites are fast in MSN as well so I am not sure what;s your problem is besides MSN just get 10% of the traffic. If you are going ok in G and Y then it should be good enough.

Here is what work for me: Simply submit your url to msn and they will index your site in a day or two. Usually get my site indexed with them within 24 hours. (A lot of person ignore this but it works )Hope that helps |

Ok all......MSN is simply ignoring me apparently. I have tried everything I know of to get listed with them. The page that I am trying to get listed is only a one page site for a local business that I created. It ranks great for several of my keywords on Google AND Yahoo....but doesn't exist on Live. Talk about frustrating....any other suggestions? I've never had this problem before. |

Find sites that are ranking well in Live for your related niche and get links from them. Works like a charm |

Hi ![]() Google sends me 100x more traffic than Yahoo. Yahoo sends me 10x more traffic than Live. Ergo, why should I optimize for Live? ...or even care about Live? Steve |

Canuck I'll see if I can do that...but it is for a local business so it is not as simple as my regular IM link-building as far as that goes. I totally agree Steven...if it was my own personal site I wouldn't really care, but one of the things I assure my offline clients is my ability to get them listed within all three search engines...so this one really has me stumped. |

As some optional methods, you could submit to reddit or digg as they will index you within a day or two, as well as submit your web address directly to msn and you will be indexed in a day or two. With any of these methods you can get indexed in 24 hours at least! |
