Hey guys!

I'm new to the site and found it in my research into internet marketing. I'm a pretty computer literate and have been on one for years on end. My main focus has been into gaming and programming.

So, one day i was thinking.. I need a career and even though i don't know much of anything about marketing.. it just stuck to me. I don't know why but i go with my gut.

I could really use some help on where i can get started.

I've done some research and find the "Get rich quick" and the "Easy button" sites etc and i know that it's not going to work.. A long my travels i find decent info but its scattered and no direct place for it.

Searching around for info on this topic is vicious and dishonest for the most part. But i understand that process.

I Also understand that this choice wont be easy and will take work to get into and keep up and also that it could take money to make money. I'm up for the challenge and could use the goals and experience in my life.

Could someone please point me in the right honest direction? I'd be very grateful!

These are really good questions & you're correct that you shouldn't go with an "easy button" solution. The most important thing you need to do is build a list. This will allow you to market to the same people over & over again. You simply create a product to give away in exchange for an email address. The most important thing when creating your product is to solve a product or need!

There are so many markets you can go after. PM me if you have any more questions. I would love to help!

Internet Marketing has gotten so diverse that telling someone you are an Internet Marketer now is like telling someone you work with computers.

First place to start is what you are passionate about or have knowledge in that few others do.

Create a product or service that would interest people in that niche.

Find the biggest dog in that market and see if you can partner up with him. Offer to let them promote to their list and they can keep all the money. All the while you are collecting names and email addresses.

If you want someone to follow and listen to then do a Google search on the phrase "worlds most trusted internet marketer." There you will find my good friend Jim Cockrum all over page 1. He puts out great stuff.

So, there are really 4 (5, depending on who you ask, but I hate adsense with a passion) main ways to do internet marketing.
    They are:

Affiliate marketing (Promote other people's stuff for a commission)

Info Product Marketing (Make products that solve peoples problems, For example, I do not know how to garden, if someone were to offer me a video course on how to do so, I would buy it)

Network Marketing (Also known as MLM, get other people into your team, selling the product, as well as sell the product yourself)

Offline Consulting (Teach businesses how to do online marketing/do it for them)

Your first task is to choose one!

BTW, the reason I refuse to add adsense, is that, while making a blog, or 2, or 200, can make you some money if you put adsense on it, it takes a LOT of time to write out good content. If you do it the autoblog way, or just use ****ty PLR, then you will make some money, and then most likely, google will shut down your adsense account without warning.

Oh, and since everyone else is saying it. No matter which method you choose, build a list.

Thank you guys for the great replies!

I'm starting to get an idea on where to start. I'm thinking of two routes Selling my own product and affiliate marketing. I have certain programs i'd like to dev and sell. But it will take a lot of time to even get my foot through the door.

So i'm thinking about affiliate marketing which seems like a shorter way to get at least my foot through the door and will also learn to eventually get my own products out there efficiently.

So i guess i need the foundation of where to start with affiliate marketing.
