Advice on Designing WSO Sales Letter (with Graphics)?

Hi guys,

As I approach launching my first wso i'm needing to learn some skills and skill sets.

I have a copy of Photoshop and I'm looking to design the gorgeous, multi-layered sales letters like you see in the WSO Forum. The problem is, I'm completely brand-new to Photoshop and graphic design.

I'm committed to learn, but I was wondering if anyone had experienced this before and had good recommendations on what to try? Any learning resources would be massively appreciated.

Remember, the copy-writing part of the sales letter isn't the tough part for me (I have that taken care of), but the actual high quality graphics that I'm looking to implement to make a good looking sales letter. That's the hard part!

I would say in most cases if you are new to design you may expect to butcher your first project a little.

Unless you have a keen eye for it, you might be better served to hire a pro designer to make it awesome while you focus on JV's etc.

I recommend you focus on what you're good at and outsource the rest. There are quite a few people in the warriors for hire section that can create wso sales page graphics at a reasonable price.

      Got it folks!

One last thing - is it true that people also create the wso sales page graphics in wordpress sites (i.e. the Optimize Press Theme, Profits theme) and then place that into the WSO Thread, too? If so that would make things quite a bit simpler.

This is true, you can use optimize press or profits theme for that!

No. You can't create it in Wordpress and then just copy it to a WSO listing. The forum uses BBCode, not html or php.

The answer is yes and no...

You cannot copy the HTML code from a WordPress page into a WSO post. They are not the same type of code (HTML/CSS vs. BB Code).

However... if you want to do a GRAPHICAL design, you could screen capture your WordPress page and cut it up into separate images. Then, just use simple BB Code image tags to display them in your WSO post.

Keep in mind that there's a limit of 10 images to a post (if I recall correctly). And, of course, you need to make sure you images are narrow enough to fit within a forum post without blowing the margins out. (I think a post is about 740 to 750 pixels wide MAXIMUM.)

Also, you'll need to host your images yourself. But almost any hosting will do.

        Hope that helps.

        Regards,

        John

By the time to you are finished with your WSO graphics, you could be producing your second WSO. My advice is to invest some money on those task and let the expert get it done for you.

I'm having trouble finding "wso sales page graphics" in the warriors for hire forum, seems like everyone is a copy writer.

I can tell you if you're just now starting down your road with Photoshop, it is going to be exceedingly difficult to get to a point where you can do a nice page in any kind of near-term time frame.

You'd be much better off just hiring someone to make your page for you and in the meantime be working to learn graphics.

I suspect many graphic designers might be a bit offended by the notion of anyone thinking that they could just fire up Photoshop as an absolute beginner and end up within a few days, weeks, or maybe even months being able to make their own gorgeous multilayered sales page, when most graphic designers have to study graphics for years in most cases before being able to offer those services to clients.

Unless of course you're an absolute freakin' genius, in which case I do apologize for saying the above.

Personally I have struggled with Photoshop and Illustrator off and on for years because they are such complex apps. And I'm not exactly a dolt.

Good copywriting ability is much more rare than graphics ability, so if you are really ace in that department, you have much of the battle won already. I would suggest just paying for the graphics work to get the ball rolling a lot faster.

Feel free to dismiss any/all of the above! They were just my thoughts on the matter.

Cruise through the WSO section and search for it.. I know of a handful of offers out there for sales page graphics. Work on creating the product and copy, then outsource the graphics if you're not comfortable doing it yourself. I think it took me a couple years to get my Photoshop skills at a reasonable level. Yet, when it comes to product creation, I still outsource that part.

Someone new to graphic design and new to Photoshop is not likely to be able to create a gorgeous graphic based sales page in Photoshop.

I would concentrate on developing a really kick ass product and launching a text based WSO with a few graphics thrown in, but not make a WSO that is nothing but a graphic. Maybe your target market isn't people who live in rural areas or other countries that have limited bandwidth, and if that's the case, having a WSO load at a snail's pace might not matter to you. WSOs with nothing but graphics load extremely slowly for me and I abandon most of them before they load. I live in the country and my connection is a tethered Droid, and I'm actually a great deal more interested in offers that provide value to me rather than looking at some cool graphics.

Use the search feature, type in WSO help, or WSO in the title field. Learn from the best if you are willing to learn.

Can I be honest? Forget this, as others have mentioned, you will be wasting a lot of time. And won't turn out anything good, I'm afraid.

The graphics talent on the WF is tremendous. ..and very reasonable, price-wise. I'd look there to solve the graphics issue.

Most WSO copy performs poorly, so it's better to focus on copy anyway.

    Here's a thought....

If you have a compelling offer and the ability to
convey the value to the target market you can scribble
it on a paper bag in crayon and sell a thousand copies.

Don't worry about the graphics. Better to have no
graphics and a compelling story than fancy graphics
    and a crap product.

As soon as someone buys a copy everyone will know
which you have and the graphics won't matter a lick.

    Just sayin'
