A little nudge in the right direction needed here please..

Hi all, Ok so I am new to the whole internet marketing scene.

Anyways after months of looking at everything i have decided on email marketing but I am clueless as to what would be the best approach, and need a little nudge or "confirmation" if you will that this is possible.

The idea.. Have a Word press membership site where by its free to become a member, the visitor simply submits their name and email to my integrated Aweber account and received confirmation that they are now a member of the site.

So..

Wordpress site with an opt-in form on the front landing page, they opt in and receive an email via my Aweber auto responder with confirmation of them being a member with log in details to access a locked page in a members area
.

I was thinking Wishlist member integrated with Aweber would be the best route to go but is it as simple as that?

So.. Squeeze page > free opt in > access to locked page with free premium. (with them now being in my Email list)

Thanks,
chris.

Can you not do the above with using Wishlist Chris??

Whishlist is great but it's cost $$$$s... Are you planning on charging for any of the content on your site? Like having a free basic membership and then upgrades available to access full content??

If that's what your after then Whishlist will work fine. If you are just giving them access to free content then I'd just collect their details with Aweber and email them a login code. Nothing fancy just a generic access code. There's probably a free WP plugin that will do that for you - have you looked into any of them??

I think your right here, I have seen and tested several free WP membership models and they would work fine if i sent them log in details of a generic username/password.

The reason i was thinking of a "premium" membership plugin was because it would be more personalized and they would feel special about getting their free premium thus trusting me more?

If you want a membership site just buy a script such as Wishlist or Amember and you can use it as many times as you want.

Personally to do email marketing I would create a site that provides high quality content to people which solves any problems or questions they have. Once you solve their problem(s) they are then more likely to opt in for a newsletter or free gift etc. Then you have their email address to email them whenever you want with affiliate offers (or your own products).

Take a look at Michael Cheney's Millionaire Warrior Coaching program + BONUSES :

I see what you mean but the free premium i am offering if for a highly targeted and hungry small market, so i want to be in and out with the whole process feeling personal for the prospect if you see what i mean?

Why not do the whole thing with Aweber?

You can deliver your membership content via autoresponder -easy.

I like this idea the best. If you plan on offerring an absolutely free membership site with no upgrades then don't bother paying for wishlist. You could run everything out of your Aweber and still collect the emails you need.

I agree completely. The best way to run an email list is with auto-responders and let the system do all of the "grunt work" for you.
I use Aweber for all of my list building and the service is great.
There is a lot of money to be made in a membership site and if you have the right marketing you can end up with tons of traffic.

Good luck in launching your business.

If you're only going to be doing email marketing, depending on your needs for content delivery, you may not even need a membership plugin (and I say this even though I am the developer of one :-) )

You can create great campaigns using a theme like OptimizePress (OP) that will let you create great sales funnels, squeeze pages, etc - and then hook up OP to Aweber.

And you could create stand-alone pages in WordPress and deliver links to them via email.

The need for a membership plugin comes only when you want more advanced content delivery and automation. Like... you want to make content "members only", sell access to certain content, allow people to login before they can access it, lose access if they stop paying, create free and paid products, have one-time and subscription payments, etc.

If you don't need any of that, then you could essentially do it with WordPress, OptimizePress and Aweber (or equivalent email service).
