Default How would you make money with 140,000 gaming fans?

Okay here's the deal.

I want to figure out how I can convert my 140,000 Facebook fans related to gaming into a profit in the internet marketing industry.

I can post up a few status updates and get thousands of visitors to any site within a few minutes, but the thing I'm most interested about is conversions.

If you had 140,000 Facebook fans that were all related to gaming and wanted to figure a way to teach them how to make money online, how would you go about getting them interested?

Here's a few ideas I have.
  • Telling them how to do exactly what I do, since I'm a gamer myself and love it.
  • Create videos for the games and at the end of the videos, express how they can become a paid YouTuber like me?
  • Indirectly leading people to my salespage by sharing information with them about a game, which then expresses that I make money when they click on the affiliate link, but if they click on the link below that link, they can learn how I make that money.

Thoughts?

In the 3 years I've made an income from home I've been able to build over 750 websites for clients, 146 for myself, 31+ Facebook pages with over 329,000+ fans now!) and have had $3,000 days multiple times now.

Why try to convert them to something else? Why not just market to their gaming interests. Write reviews on games/guides/systems/controllers, etc and get them to buy thru you.

I'd create your own website, get that website link into the hands of your fans, and monetize that website with things like Google AdSense or other gaming related ads.

Good luck.

Jake, the questions was not on how to make money in the same niche for a reason. I already make money with them in the gaming niche and have been very successful with it, but I'm trying to figure out how to convert non-targeted people into sales for something related to internet marketing.

Another idea I had is teaching my fans how to create websites related to gaming or how to build their own gaming community.

In the 3 years I've made an income from home I've been able to build over 750 websites for clients, 146 for myself, 31+ Facebook pages with over 329,000+ fans now!) and have had $3,000 days multiple times now.

I'm new here, but maybe you could try to get an Amazon affiliate link and encourage them to use it. Even tell them that it supports the costs of running and maintaining your site. I am a gamer and one of the sites with forums that I frequent does this and he gets a decent amount of money from we buy on Amazon anyways (release day games with $20 Amazon credit, etc.). Also, there are Newegg affiliate links you can get, but I believe they are more strict with how you can place them on your site and don't pay as well.

Not sure if you are looking to go a whole different way or if you are already doing it. Best of luck either way.

Please do not use affiliate links in signatures

You can create an awesome ebook about gaming, and sell it for around $7, and with the ebook you can give them a free report on how to make money selling PLR items, and allow them to have PLR rights to your gaming ebook.

I don't think people are understanding my question.

I realize how to make money with them. I'm asking how do I get them to join a course that can teach them how they can make money :P Hope that makes it easier.

I see now. Well I certainly think you have something going on here. Since they are gamer fans you want to appeal to that interest. There are programs with affiliate programs out there where people can play games, and make money doing it to. You can create a webinar, or an article highlighting some of these programs, and post a link to it. If you have been giving your fans quality info already, then you should already have a high authority with them. Even if 1% Click that would be 1400 people right there. They would just watch the webinar or read the article, and you can point them to your affiliate link. That is something that i would try doing. Hope that helps.

Mentioning webinars gave me a lot of great ideas.

Seeing as gamers are more targeted towards video, I guess that's the direction I need to put my primary focus and attention on.

Thanks a lot for your ideas

You could offer "Online Flash Games Website Packages". You create a basic package were people can start there own website and own money. For example for 100 bucks a person can have his own website. Script + Domain + hosting + Games (MochiMedia). And you could charge a small monthly fee for hosting.

Sorry this isn't specifically something I'm looking to partner with anyone. I'm just looking to see if anyone has any ideas on how I can get gamers to convert into students

i'm actually a heavy gamer myself, and i can tell you promoting complementary products are a good way to go. for example we usually have a higher demand for junk food when gaming. other ideas would be repair services, nerdy products, etc.

look for things that your demographic would be interested in, not necessarily gaming itself. setup some minisites and test them out in likelihood of revenue success

Well I'm not specifically looking for products to promote to my fans, if you read the description I'm trying to ask how I would convert my fans into wanting to join something where I teach them how to make money online or gaming in general.

I have a few ideas of my own but I'm really trying to see what others have to throw in.

Hey man,

Get them into something related to gaming.
For example, buying and selling games online for a profit.

This would be a great way to learn the basics of doing business.

Show them how to leverage a resource like gamezlist.com to bootstrap their way from selling their own games/consoles, to buying stock en masse and reselling, to buying direct from dealers or opening their own eCommerce site.

This is something your followers would be excited about because its related to something they already love. They will know what's hot, what's not, and where to find resources to keep themselves updated.

There would be plenty of resources, information, and products you could provide your followers because there are so many approaches they could take.

For example, some will be interested in using social media to promote their stuff. You could teach them how to leverage social media, build a following, and sell stuff to that following.

The barrier of entry here awesomely low because it won't take a huge investment of time to get started, no technical skills are required, and your followers will find their inventory collecting dust in the closet!

Gamezlist also allows users to have their own pages where they can list their inventory, display business logos, and leave a write up about themselves/their business.

The system would make it easy for them manage their inventory, do customer service, and keep their pulse on the market using the "watch list" tool which will show them when an item they want to buy/sell is listed on the site.

So much potential here.

I think you should make an e-book, which details how they can make money online whilst indulging their passion of gaming. It shouldn't be too hard to do if you have already made money like this yourself and you are sure to get a few sales if you plug it right.

I'd build a blog, more specifically, something like the guy over at nerdfitness is doing.

Obviously it would be a MMO blog, but it be laser targeted towards gaming nerds (or people, but nerds is catchier).

Then maybe either have an eBook or a Kindle book, whichever you think would suit the people.

Hey buddy, hopefully I can be of help...

Actually I can give you a kind of case study of someone who did exactly what you want to do (ie take buyers from another niche and warm them into the idea of buying IM products)

I'm not going to tell you too much but he is in the PUA / men's dating advice niche but he wanted to see if he could sell them IM products.

His angle to his customers and subscribers? It was along the lines of this...

"Let me tell you a bit more about myself, so we can get to know each other... See, I know that you know I teach guys like you how to be better with women, but I've also been able to grow that into a successful business... a business that you are a part of and has provided me with the pleasure of being able to help people... and also a great deal of financial security...

See, you probably don't know this, but last year (his website) made me $250,000! That's right! All that, doing something I love! But it wouldn't have been possible if I hadn't learnt all about how to grow that business and how to make it really successful.. and how to market it online.. in other words, as well as a dating coach, I'm also an Internet Marketer.

Now what's this got to do with you, you're probably wondering? Well, one of the reasons I coach guys in being better with women is helping them to create a better life for themselves... to get that life that they deserve! And I firmly believe that anyone can do what I have done and build their own online business, to provide them with the lifestyle they always wanted!

Now, I don't want to bother you with this if you are not interested... so if you don't want to learn how to make money online EVEN WHILE YOU SLEEP then please ignore this email, accept my apologies for bothering you and I won't mention it again.. I'll just keep giving you good advice on how to get more girls :-)

But if you do have "more strings to your bow" and want to learn more about how to make money online so you can afford to take girls to nicer places and build your own business doing something you love, click here...."

And then from that he built a prospects list converting some of his PUAs into IMers... :-)

So I would suggest you come from a similar angle... Start by "sharing more about yourself"... remind them that you are just like them.. but you also have this other skill... that makes you money... And it's a skill that they could learn too... if they wanted... so they could make money whilst playing Call of Duty :-)

I really like the whole "if you're not interested, ignore this and normal service will be resumed" angle, meant he didn't lose face with any of his list.

I REALLY think that list of gamers would LOVE IM products... you could come at it from the "how much do you wish you didn't have to have a real job and could play Skyrim 8 hours a day? Well, here's how I do it..." angle
:-)

In other words, don't focus on "I'll teach you how to make money online" (which equals "AAAGH he's a horrible internet marketer trying to sell me stuff") but more "let me help you fire your boss so you can do what you really want to be doing.. for a living That make sense? Focus on the benefit, not the cash.

Hope that helps,

Phil Ainsworth

Promote affiliate offers for game guides. SO many people buy those, and Clickbank has a few for MMOs.

Phil's comment seems to be the most useful one yet. You'll want to build a bridge using related interests to bring your users from gamers to gamers who want to learn about making money online. I liked how Phil's example guy shared information about himself, I get the sense he really knows his customer.

I'll bet you know your customer too, Justin. Gamers like visuals, gamers like things to move quickly, gamers like a challenge, gamers like electronics, and gamers like money. This seems like an easy bridge to build to me.

Have you thought about how you will offer the information? Live webinar? Recorded video series with exercises and action steps? A forum to bring all your customers together? A blog so they can see their leader (you) sharing new content live? Good luck, I have a feeling you're going to make it happen.

I'm testing out a webinar tonight with my audience to tell them how they can play video games and build a career out of it.

It's going to be tricky, but I really feel that I can catch their attention.

The great thing about it is that I don't have to promote heavily, I'll just share information and see what happens.

Justin,

I work in my day job in a boarding school. The kids all play the free gaming websites where the owner makes money just because they play the games.

I would think that you could make a site like this (or use one that you have) and simply demonstrate to your avid fans how if they owned a simple site like that, they could be the one earning every time somebody played it. Once they like that idea (and I am sure they will!), it is a small step for them to need to know how to get traffic to the site, and then into other types of sites. Gamers, as you know, like a challenge and if it involves the technology they love then even better.

You could offer a few of these sites ready made to your fan page. Once they have made some money with them, they will post that on the page too and then it will go viral! Your audience just became an IM audience wanting to buy from you!

Your webinar pitch is a good one - and Phil's suggestion of telling them a bit about yourself is also a good one as this opens the door.

Good luck,

Paul

You already said the answer to your question. Just pose it as a question to your fans " who wants to earn money from gaming? " and send them to your site , obviously it will be low conversion, but im sure you are expecting that.

Another idea I had is teaching my fans how to create websites related to gaming or how to build their own gaming community.
I thought I saw a "make money testing games" type product on clickbank. You can probably promote that product and then slowly lead them in the make money online niche from there. From that product, they are obviously interested in making money so then you can promote a make money online training program later on.

I'm not sure how good that "make money testing games" product is though.

good luck

Selling them product of unique interest to gamers. Like the recent -> diablo 3. Of course, you need to get good deals.

I actually posted a question very similar last night on a few of my pages and received an astonishing result.

Just 1 post received over 1,500 likes and 500+ comments. So I definitely know that they are interested.

Now is the hard part, leading them into the sale.

In the 3 years I've made an income from home I've been able to build over 750 websites for clients, 146 for myself, 31+ Facebook pages with over 329,000+ fans now!) and have had $3,000 days multiple times now.

In that case i would give them as much info as possible for free , cuz chances are they dont have a clue. Then call to action once they are confident.

Yep that's what I think I'm going to do.

I'll share everything there is to know about making an income while enjoying their passions/interest. I'll give them step by step instructions, but then I'll lead them into the sale by giving them detailed instructions with case studies, examples, ideas, and constant updates

140K+ followers justifies investing into your own game-niche-specific social network or forum.
Facebook is mess, but if you'll create your own portal and constantly steer followers to your site - you'll be in full control on your own terms.

Then you'll make money from advertising, affiliate links, marketing etc...

@Gleb,

Actually I created a social network for gamers that became a little.. too successful. It was so successful in a short period of time that it ended up costing me thousands of dollars, before I could even understand what to market to them.

I plan on reopening it later this year, but my goal here is to acquire some of these fans as students.

Thats what i would expect. I not sure if gamers are buyers, unless you covering narrow, somewhat professional and very dedicated niche.
Otheriwse on-site advertising should be quite beneficial due to sheer volume of traffic you get.
If you want to save money on dedicated hosting, check hetzner, ex4s server. Can't beat that power and price.

I tested out the live webinar today and I'm waiting to see if there are any conversions.

I had a lot of people really interested and can't wait to see what happens We had over 900 people attend and people are still rolling in to watch the recording.

Justin, if the WF had a "like" button, I would have just clicked it.

You are a shining example of what it takes to be successful in IM. You saw an opportunity and.... ACTUALLY DID SOMETHING ABOUT IT!

And you had 900 webinar attendees? That's frickin awesome mate :-)

As the Kaiser Chiefs sung... I Predict A Riot.

Rock on dude,

Phil Ainsworth

P.S. Give me a shout or a PM if you want to know more about the guy who converted his niche to IM

Depending on the games, cheat codes, tips tricks. Offer a classified service or run online raffles. Start by putting up a donate button and sell your story on how much time, money and effort goes into posting. In the past, I've taken older posts and put them together as special reports and sold them. The biggest thing is to make sure you offer them something great, that way, they will buy from you again.

Thanks a lot Phil.

I took a screenshot of the statcounter stats (which appeared to be off as I also just promoted the UStream video itself).

The stats skyrocketed over the last 2 days for the quick page that I setup 3 days ago.

So far my experiment didn't lead to any conversions, but the idea was to see what type of questions people had and a lot believed it was a scam.

Now my focus is getting out the information so that they have real references and ideas about how all of this can be possible.

I did have a bunch of people privately email me asking questions about how they could further their knowledge and I definitely see a few leads from this
