Hi Guys - I want to share one of my major philosophies when I manage my list:
  • Know
  • Like
  • Trust

In short you need to build a relationship with your list...If you don't you're missing out on lost opportunity & eventual sales. There are so many ways to build trust. How you do build trust with your list?

    whats' up Tim?

uploading videos and sending subs the link is a great way to fit all of those criteria in a short amount of time. just be yourself and provide value in what you're doing. sure, you'll get some unsubs but who cares? the relationship you built with the people that stayed is WAY more profitable than the people that unsubscribed because they didn't like your style.

Hey Mike. I couldn't agree more. I actually use video as well. The people on my list love it

    Honest product reviews.

Also, I emphasize that it is their choice to stay on my list, and I remind them of that about once a month when I invite them to unsubscribe from my list.

Bill, your honest reviews are one of the reasons why I subscribe to your list.

      Just love the brutal honesty.

This is the #1 factor which will keep me on anyones list (well if it's IM/SEO related).

A lot of the other marketers lists I subscribe to are just sell sell sell, tosh tosh tosh, hype hype hype, trash trash trash.

So for me the following things will keep me subscribed to a list -

      >Honest reviews (not afraid to say a product is complete tosh, and doesn't make out the worst product ever will solve everyones problems)

      >Not sending out email broadcasts every few hours just to push some trashy affiliate product on me.

      >Giving the odd free bit of advice, in other words not trying to get me to part with cash in every email.

      >Promoting products sparingly - not just every over hyped useless products that have good conversions.

      >Not flat out lying - examples of this include questionable use of the word 'free' - sure it's going to help your open rate but dont call something something it isn't... and making out your giving subscribers a special bonus or a special discount when ANYONE and I mean ANYONE will get as standard or get from using someone elses affiliate link.

    I just devide them by
    -buyers
    -interested in your product

mostly the buyer list is someone who already put their trust in you. So you just need to keep the trust by giving more value

You build trust by providing value to your customers on a regular basis, instead of just blasting your list with offers until they get fed up and unsubscribe. Mix the value in with relevant quality offers.

You're so right. You should NEVER spam your list. Treat them right & they'll stay with you for a long time

Lots of little things, but it all boils down to treating list members like intelligent human beings deserving of respect and dignity until they prove otherwise. In which case, they get moved to what Paul Myers dubbed "the psychic edition" of the list - I unsubscribe them myself, and if they get to be a pain, I block them.

Treat your list like family. Don't send them crap and don't try to overload them with your affilliate links or CPA offers. Try to be proffessional at all times, answer questions truthfully and look after them with a useful freebie now and again. Try asking your list what it is that would really help in their lives and give it to them.

The above advice is so good. The list is one of your tangible assets and should be treated with great respect.

The secret is to offer more value and offers now and then to the list. You will find that most of the list members are aware of marketing strategies and will not be fooled. So respect, listen and take them seriously

As a list owner, it's useful to have many strategies in
place to get your list to know, like and trust you.

You can start that by treating your subscriber like a
real person (rather than just an e-mail address) and
also putting your own personality into your e-mails
      and products.

Be someone that they can depend upon to deliver what
      you promise.

All things being equal, people prefer to do business with
      other people.

      Dedicated to mutual success,

I always put myself in the subscribers position. People want solutions to their problems. People do not want to be sold they want to be helped. People have to first feel like you do not have money signs in your head but that you are genuinely concerned about their issues. I have found that giving the solution in broad form is a great way of building trust. Telling stories and using humor and offering value helps build rapport. Once a person knows, likes and trusts you they will be more open to hearing what you are selling.

I guess everyones different, I think some people are ok with it.

But it depends what you're offering ..

If you send out 4 emails in one day about one product you want me to buy then I'll unsubscribe - others might not.

You've got to see what works for you of course but I would recommend not over doing it .. or if you are throw in good free content or tips .. don't just be selling straight away, you've got to build the relationship.

One customer may be on your list for 6 months before he/she decides to buy something from you or through one of your links.

If you send out too many emails without building up a relationship then you could lose that customer before they even want to handover their hard earned cash.

Good points. I usually only mail my list once every 3-4 days. Also - if I try to sell something I also include a piece of valuable information to go along with it!
