The Great Internet Marketing Catch Up

Hey Guys!

About a year or two ago I read a lot of information regarding how to set up and market a site focused on a niche subject.

I never got round to living my dream due to my circumstances (read: procrastination) and now I'm back for round 2! -well round 1 really seeing as I didn't actually get started!! -Anyway.

I'm planning on making several niche sites recommending the best products for the people of this world in each respective topic.

I just want to run my marketing strategy past you guys to check my info isn't outdated.

So here's the plan:

1. Choose my topic and products.
2. Conduct keyword research to find low competition / high search volume long tails.
3. Assess the competition for my chosen keywords checking I can compete.
4. Create site with around 10 articles using keywords.
5. Post articles to various directories linking back to my site's sales pages.
6. Post in forums with a link in my signature.
7. Create facebook fan page & Twitter account. Both linking back.
8. Build list on my site.
9. Market list while adding more content to site for visitor sales.
10. ???*
11. Profit

How does that sound? My link building and keywords will be used to push my site up Google. My sales will come from occasional sales article mixed in with the informative articles on the site for my organic traffic and marketing my e-mail list.

I've been reading article directories are no longer viable unless you shake up the plan with syndication but does the rest sound viable for 2012?

Thanks very much for your help people!

Can anyone tell me if my plan is too outdated to work in 2012?

Sorry this jumped to the third page over night.

It's great that you have a plan, but it's a little incomplete. Go ahead and get started on it, but keep reading the forums here as you complete your steps so you can get additional guidance.

And yes, article directories are not really where you want to be since Panda hit in Feb 2011. Search for posts by Alexa Smith to see what you really need to do with your articles.

Start with one niche site. Figure out if it works. If it doesn't you haven't wasted to much time if it does then you know exactly what to do for the next one.

Add niche blog commenting also into your free traffic generation list, for me, it works fine today.
