All I have is one product - how to place?

In the best of all possible worlds I would have (well, I think I ought to have):
  • A free report or ebook to draw folks in;
  • An upsell product (and automatic followup if they didn't buy);
  • A One Time Offer after they've bought the upsell; and
  • A Membership site to produce recurring income.
But all I have is one product: I wrote an ebook on how to earn $50-100 over the weekend, for the working stiff to make it to his next check or meet an unexpected need. I actually wrote this for a guy here at work, and thought some folks at my church might profit from it. Now I've got the IM bug.

Should I:
  • Sell the ebook I wrote as a first (and only) step? It's a $15 item.
  • Find a PLR product to give away to qualify leads and get emails, then upsell the actual ebook I've written? Or,
  • Sell it as a first step and create my own second product to upsell (waiting 'til I research and write the more expensive product before trying to get traffic)?
Or should I do something else? Note that I *do* plan to write more information products that can tie in and market to the list I'm building, but waiting 'til I have them will slow me down by weeks or months.

If you're curious, my website is www.heroicmoney.com, and I'm tweaking it per some suggestions I received here a bit ago. If you want a review copy, I would certainly consider sending out a few more, btw, but that's not the thrust of my question.

Thanks!

    Hi Tim (?)

    You are way ahead of the curve. IMHO
    I think you know what you should do but are looking for confirmation.

    My only advice would be to start a following by creating a list of people who are looking for what you have to offer.

    So give your product away and as and when you create further products sell those to your list.

    I'd go for option 2 or 3 - you've done all the work, you've tested it on your work colleague - build a list!

      Thanks, folks - yes, I'm hoping to offer this as a WSO in the next few weeks; I want to tweak things a bit more before I start marketing it in earnest. You know, I would like to have more and better-written reviews, better sales copy, and the like. But it's in the works.

      Gosh, but there's a lot to this gig! Before I got into this I would have said, "Sure, sell it on the internet. Done. Should take an afternoon to set up, max."

      Now, well AFTER I put the book itself to bed, I'm sweating minisite design, book covers, headlines, sales copy, reviews and resultant testimonials, 'buy now' placements, opt-in lists, delivery of sample pages, pricing, fulfillment, autoresponse email series, weekly followup newletter series, press releases, backlinks, and blogging - all in addition to the question on first-product / upsell that I asked. My hat is off to the group for the expertise you exhibit every day. It's a lot more complex than I had thought!

      And WHERE is that magic red button to make a million dollars? I've been searching for months and haven't found it. Was that a WSO I missed?
