Google's AdWords program has worked for me. You set the price per click, and Google sends targeted traffic to your site. The program can be pretty tricky, so it may take a while to understand. But once you get the hang of it, you'll get not only clicks, you'll get exposure to both Google's search network and display network which helps with branding your company name and URL.

I see you're located in China. That's too bad. I've got a million friggin' free AdWords coupons to give away, and I'd really like to unload these things!

I would suggest you NOT buy traffic. Firstly it will not be targeted and secondly it will have terrible bounce rates and click through rates. Try SEO for free organic traffic.

Adwords can be great if you're in a niche that everybody missed. If not, it can get very expensive and you're limited by the amount of traffic that you can get. Unless, of course, you want to spend $2.00 a click.

    It depends on your niche.

What very often works is this:

    1. Google the keywords that your targeted traffic would key into a search engine.
    2. Visit the top 10 or top 20 web sites
    3. See if they accept advertising
    4. Buy advertising (banner or text link) on these sites

This is usually the best type of traffic and very often dirt cheap.

That's a great advice and highly workable strategy. 100% support it.
With google adnsense you'll spend much more money and there are lots and lots of restrictions. So media buys (ppv, banners, text ads) is really much better way to go.

Thanks for this advice. It's a little bit similar to add links to others' blogroll, which is an effective way to build backlinks and drive traffic. You can have a try.

    Don't buy traffic.

If you don't know how to convert it or you buy it from poor sources it will just waste your money.

Really you should think about who your business/website is for and where they are and look for ways to connect with them wherever they are.

Paying for traffic is great but only if you can convert it - otherwise it's a great way to spend money quickly.

If you try Google Adwords, get good information before you try it, and be very cautious. Anyone got a good up-to-date guide to this? I have not done it, but know you have to test with small budget to start with, as it is far too easy to lose money.
Also, the advice to make sure your conversion is good makes sense - pay per click no good if they just look and leave, and do not buy.
    Best luck!

Paid traffic is always going to be more reliable than free traffic and is MUCH less time consuming. However - if your site is not set up effectively, with a good sales funnel in place, you will not convert any of the traffic to sales. This means you will quickly be throwing money away.

Instead of spending time trying to get free traffic - spend some time making sure your site is REALLY optimised for converting traffic. Once you have done that, and only then, turn on the traffic tap with paid traffic.

If your funnel is good, you should be in profit. You should make more than you spend. TEST, TEST, TEST!!

I agree with Paul. Buying traffic is a great way to grow your business at a rapid rate (As much as your money can buy / there's demand for what you offer). BUT, if you don't know what you're doing and your sales funnel isn't correctly in place, you're simply going to lose a lot of money in a very short space of time.

My advice is to go with the cheaper adverting networks while you're trying paid advertising out. Forget Google and Bing advertising, their CPC is too high. Instead, try out some of the cheaper advertising networks such as 7search and Advertise.com. Good luck, and let us know how it goes.

Paid traffic is so overlooked. I find it the best source for traffic!!!!! If you are bored of all the work involved in traffic paid is for you. I must warn you though...... You will need to spend way more than you do with fiver. I just think the best way to get highly targeted traffic is to pay for it. Do your homework or find someone who has so you don't get burnt.

I have purchased traffic before from a reliable source.

Yes i did get traffic to my site but that is all I got. My bounce rate increased and those clicks did not convert. I did not make more money on adsense, amazon, etc.

Personally I would not buy traffic - Find a niche that people are interested in and that is not extremely saturated.

I have a site about a specific part of pop culture and I get anywhere from 30K to 60K unique visitors a month. This is not extremely great but I am happy with it and the site takes about an hour a week to maintain

Traffic will come with good quality content

Consider it sent. Please note these things are valid for U.S. residents only.

Edit: If anyone else wants a coupon, just let me know. They present a great opportunity to test how well your landing page converts at no cost. (I think there's a small $1.00 set up fee.) The coupon is for $100 worth of free AdWords advertising.

I would Not advise you to buy traffic. First most of the so called traffic provider only provide fake traffic And if even the traffic is real but not targeted, it won't do you any good.

Thank you for all of you reply me, I've been went over twice since my poor English.
Refer to Google's AdWords, Maybe it's effective promotion. Honestly speaking, i can't afford it due to limit budget and it's high cost, at least for the time being.
About buy advertising (banner or text link), i suppose will have a try. I was wondering how about launched in Facebook? Did anyone here been advertised in Facebook, how about the effect ? I did buy traffic for trial just 7 days evently, from it's stats, quite sure i get lots traffic, but it's totally not the target customers which i need, it's all fake click. Therefore, I will give up after 7 days later.
Regarding SEO, I am quite sure how important is, dramaticly, one of Warriors in India just PM me, he will charge USD 300/month to do SEO for me.
Is it pricing reasonable ? Need 3 months target 10 keywords, should i trust him or not ?
Anyway, thanks again for every kind respond. I will keep it in mind.

      Hi Jennifer,
I can understand your concern about buying traffic and rightly so. There are many fraudulent sellers that use bots and scripts. I'm actually a real targeted traffic seller that knows the limitations of buying even the best traffic.
Firstly I always encourage my customers to be doing SEO on their sites in conjunction with buying traffic. Bought traffic will really only help your SERPS rankings, but will give you low click through rates.
As mentioned by other members your content site has a lot to do with people engaging your site, after all "content is king" and without that all other work on your site will be worthless including buying traffic.
As for trying SEO I am currenty testing a company that offers the first 30 days FREE with the option to continue based on results or you can end their services with out it costing you a cent. Great for getting your site ranked fast without the upfront expense.
If your interested just PM me.
All the best with your site.

I too bought traffic on Fiverr and it was useless. 13,000 clicks on one site and not a single conversion. Another site got 1300 clicks, targeted to the US, 56% of the clicks didn't list a country of origin, and again nothing converted. I was out $20. I was testing the waters to see if Fiverr traffic was worth investment, and found that it really wasn't worth it. I consider the $20 and investment in exploring traffic

I'm sorry to confuse and maybe upset you, but first thing first:

How much traffic did you get so far and do you track it?

If you tried 3 methods and only got a few hundred visitors, and no action or sales? Then you should not look for other alternatives (whether free or paid)... as you could be getting 10x times more traffic, and still no results.

What you should be doing is: work out your conversion. Try to understand your audience. Maybe there's something which you're missing that doesn't click with your target market.

50% of it may be traffic's fault. 50% of your problem may be your idea and knowledge of the audience and how you convert it into profit.

    Makes sense?

Don't buy cheap bulk traffic. That is a waste of money. Nowadays I go for Facebook ads as Facebook has over 1bn users, almost everyone is there. You may need to tweak your campaign until you can a low cost but it is worth it if you have a good sales funnel that can convert leads.

If you simply want raw traffic, you could join any of a number of auto-surf exchange sites.

It's not quality though, just volume.

If you want targeted traffic and are willing to pay for it, then advertising is the best thing.
A variation of that would be to pay someone to share your links with someone that has their own targeted audience, relating to your market.

The answer is in knowing what you want the traffic to do once it gets to your site. Do you want to sell them stuff? Do you want them to just read your content?

if you are selling, then it wouldn't be a good idea to buy traffic - basically its like trying to pay someone to come buy from you. If you just want to give exposure to your website, then you can go ahead and buy and see what it does for your website.

But be careful, most of these sites selling traffic online are not sending real people, they are using robots.

If I were to recommend one site (because I have used it and it sends real people), I would recommend www.revisitors.com. (I can't guarantee the traffic they send will work for you or give you the same results it gave me).

    Good luck.
