Are the emails in my inbox copyrighted by the sender?

Maybe some of you guys have researched this question
and know the answer.

I'm just curious if an email that lands in my inbox could be
copied and used for some other purpose.

Not true, Phil. In the US, at least, the copyright is automatically conferred upon the creator whether they put the copyright symbol or not, whether they register the copyright or whether they even mention it.

Oh really? If only, it can be that simple.

As far as I'm aware (and IANAL) that isn't true in the UK either. If you write something you automatically own the copyright.

If I find you swiping my sales letter (which I paid good money to have written) you'll find yourself on the wrong end of a DMCA C&D letter. I don't think your host would think that you had the right to use it.

Unless you have direct evidence to the contrary, you should assume that all words, all pictures (and all words and pictures) are protected by copyright.

    Hope that helps.
