Newbie Tip: Why You Don't Need PDF Converters...
I recently discovered something which I wanted to share here as it's not only saved me a great deal of time, but also a fair amount of hassle. Hopefully sharing it here means that some of the newer or less experienced members of the forum will benefit and succeed that bit faster...
I actually posted it on Facebook a couple of months ago and got this response almost immediately, which made me think others might benefit on here:
Basically, when I started out online a couple of years ago, I learned from somewhere that, in order to create an eBook, I needed to get a piece of software called a PDF Converter. This takes your Word document and turns it into, yes you guessed it, a PDF that you can then sell as an eBook. Apparently the free ones would work fine... At least, that's what I was told.
That may have been true back then (although I doubt it), but I then spent two and a bit years using several PDF Converters (both online and downloadable) that didn't work. None of them (in my experience) work for internet marketers.
You see, there is a major problem with them:
When you create a link within the document that is embedded in the text like this, the links don't work once the document has been converted. This means that all those clever, subtle sentences you've written with affiliate links embedded in them won't work and so you'll lose money.
Sure, you can just put in links like this: http://www.WarriorForum.com but that's kinda ugly and breaks the flow of the document.
The solution is so simple I laughed at myself for not even looking at what was right in front of me...
If you're using Word (I'm guessing most beginners are), then go to the 'Save As' menu and instead of just saving it as a Word document, save it as a PDF.
That's literally it.
No, really, you just need to save it as a PDF in Word and all of the links - including those that are embedded in text - still work.
And that's why ya don't need PDF Converters. Turns out Microsoft has got you covered.
Hope this helps a few people. Thanks for reading.
(Incidentally, I'm sure Macs already convert PDFs perfectly while making you a coffee and telling you how great you look today, but for PC users, this tip can save a lot of hassle)
