Has anyone ever made any money by buying an ebook or product on IM or a "how to get rich" product?

I have never bought one so I am neither for or against these products but I do wonder why anyone who has become rich would need to sell these products.

OR, is it these products that make them rich?

I've never bought a "how to get rich" product, but I have bought products and services that my business needed. Those products helped point me in the right direction as far as what actions to take.

Your question is way too general in nature. In terms of the MMO (make money online) market, there are 4 product categories: the good, the bad, and the ugly; and then there's the rare product or service that literally blows your socks off.

The most important thing is to do your research, don't be afraid to contact the seller with questions, check out the product review forum, etc. There are some really killer products out there, but there are also some really bad ones. This is where YOUR research will come in handy.

I've bought two e-books in the last year. One was about how to increase profits on Fiverr. The other was about how to run a PLR business. I do fairly well on Fiverr, in part because of this book. I'm just starting a PLR business now so hopefully it works out well for me.

I think the trick is to be careful and avoid things that sound too good to be true.

Thousands of people make money from the courses that they purchase- I'm one of them.

That said, there are also thousands of people who never make a dime. This usually happens if you spend too much time learning instead of working or don't focus on one thing long enough.

Totally AGREE with you for :
      1. Thousands of people make money from the courses that they purchase-
((I'm one of them)).Please can you tell us what was that valuable course?
2.thousands of people who never make a dime. ( No need for any Prove... Most of us going down this category)
3.if you spend too much time learning instead of working or don't focus on one thing long enough you'll not earn a dime. ( 100% TRUE ).

      Now the conclusion :

I have been spent 25 years working on the net . Reading , analyzing , buying products and offers , trying to sell websites , designing websites , jumping from one thing to another.TRying to find a sale ONLY ONE and always asking myself : Why all people are selling and earning except me? why? why? Am I idiot ? Do I need a tuned or rebuilding myself from scratch? I found that all I see or let me say that 99% of I have seen is faked . I'm just living in the dream world .

Paul Gust when you said that :
Has anyone ever made any money by buying an ebook or product on IM or a "how to get rich" product?

I have never bought one so I am neither for or against these products but I do wonder why anyone who has become rich would need to sell these products.

      My answer is :

OR, is it these products that make them rich

YES YES YES , these products are making them rich , but they are NOT .

It is all about taking action.

I personally have way too many ebooks on my hard drive doing nothing. Those I have used though do give good advice and have helped me with my business.

You are right though - some of these products are only sold to make money from selling the product rather than actually doing the stuff in them.

My mantra - "Do what they do - don't buy what they sell!"

I've built a business on the ebooks and information I've purchased. But I buy from people I've learned to respect on the forum. I only buy things that are relevant to the business method I'm currently using or want to pursue in the near future.

I don't buy products with crazy claims and I don't expect the product to make me money sitting on my computer.

The trick is to understand the fact that one ebook will NOT make you rich, however taking nuggets from many ebooks allows you the knowledge to start peicing together the IM jigsaw! perserverence and action taking gets results, but don't ever believe there is an ebook out there that will make you rich alone!!!

Ahh yes - this old classic! :-) From my experience you need to:

    1. Find someone you can trust
    2. Follow what they do (for free if you can't afford anything else)
    3. Buy their products and learn from the CONTENTS of the product and HOW they sell and market the product
    4. Develop your own unique style and approach but don't venture too much from what is proven to work by those that have trodden the path before you

This is the methodology I used and it helped me breakthrough from zip to millionaire pretty fast. Just saying... ;-)

When you want to make money online, you have to start by getting the knowledge from someone or somewhere and that is from MMO-get rich products. In my case, I bought a very nice product a couple of years ago related to MMO. Even though I didn't directly make money from it, it gave me the foundation to continue on the right path. I do agree with several of the comments here. Don't fall in the mistake of jumping from one product to the other without implementing and scaling what works: stick to what works, scale it, and you will succeed...

Any eBook can show you how to earn money online. A year ago I bought one of them, strictly followed it and still having money from that method.

All you need is commitment and discipline. Most of newbies fail in IM because once they buy somebody's course/eBook they don't follow it strictly and ruin all primary blueprint. In result - no money, frustration and refunds.

I went to a $10,000 seminar and from that made $30-40k every month for several years (until google slapped my business).

However, I went to 2 other $10,000 seminars which didn't increase my bottom line a digit... one of them was a complete joke.

There was a period about 6 years ago when $10k seminars were all the rage but so few of them lived up to the cost that its become difficult to sell them at that price anymore.

There was even a $25,000 seminar held in Australia around this same period.

    ME!

    In 1998 or so... I purchased a course from Marketingtips.com ...
it's called the "Secrets to Online Marketing" or something like that...

Corey Rudl was a legend... he passed away in a car accident in 2005 or 2006 , can't remember...

But the tactics strategies I've learned from this course, and many other course are direct reasons for the money I'm making today.

      2005 seems right.

Corey got filthy rich selling his courses.

So did some of his affiliates.

So did some of the people who applied the knowledge.

You have got the point there. Marketers make money by selling product or promoting product.

If you want to be rich like those marketers, all you need to do is sell or promoting product.

You cannot ran away from selling or promoting if you want to make money on internet

I was lucky that 1 of the first eBooks I bought (about 4 years ago) had good info in it that actually worked. I made about $30 my first month using the advice in that ebook (part of what it taught was to get leads by placing free classified ads).

Then I kept learning more and more and trying different things and kept increasing my earnings little by little.

As fas as any eBook which says you will make thousands or millions of dollars in 30 days or less.... stay away from them.

    Good luck !

Yes, I have made some money from e-books. Some methods do work. For example, if someone were to sell you an e-book about building an authority site from start to finish, you could probably make money with it if you put in the effort.

However, most people will not follow through with it and for those who do, maybe only a fraction will succeed. Hence it does not really compete with their own business.

For some people, they are ambitious and want to be rich and selling these products is another method of doing so. It's like asking why Mark Zuckerberg doesn't just sell off his Facebook share and live off his wealth. It is probably the ambition that keeps him from doing so.

Last but not least, it is always good to diversify one's income stream. Selling ebooks or courses is another way of doing it.

In spite of all this, there are people who sell fake "get rich quick" ebooks to make a quick buck.

It all depends on the individual. If you have a fire that burns deep down within you that can't live without online success, you'll do just fine no matter which product you buy. Because that voice within you will often lead you to the right information or that piece of advice that'll set you on the right track.

Personally, I've never had any luck with any of those types of products. I got my start not from people who made ridiculous claims of "getting rich quick", but getting solid business advice from people that were already doing what I wanted to do.

I've definitely made money based upon something I picked up in an eBook.
Now.. it didn't make me rich.. but I developed a nice recurring income based upon it.
I don't really think it made the seller rich either.

It was just a cheap little wso (no longer on the market) and it ended up being the seed I needed to germinate to get my offline SEO services business started.

However, for newcomers, or those struggling here I caution, you cant grasp at too many things..
    1) figure out what avenue you want to take, avoid trying too many different things at once,
    2) devour a few great products in that area,
    3) build a plan for yourself
    4) determine you objectives and strategies
    5) take action
    6) stick with it long enough to take hold

And remember.. in order to really make money, you have to SELL stuff.. not BUY stuff.

    All the best,
    Patrick Batty

If you're SERIOUS about wanting to MMO then you have to make a "Plan",
then "Take Action" on that plan. Avoid any distractions and stay focused. When you begin seeing results, you need to "Stick With It".

Most free eBooks are useless, however there are very few and I do mean VERY FEW who actually have value to them.

I myself have a free eBook that I have been giving away but I really should be selling it. It shows the fundamental basics of getting started with an online business.

Lets just say it teaches the prerequisites that the newbie must know before tackling the more advanced stuff.

Finding good quality video training courses are far and few in-between as well. Many of them don't show the newbie exactly what to do and in what order to do it in and their audio is terrible or the instructor does not speak clearly for you to understand what it is they are saying. The newbie spends more time on pausing and re-playing more than learning.

Most valuable video training courses cost money and a lot of newbies can't afford the cost. Thus - they're basically stuck with much of nothing.

There is a video training course that I know of that does offer free membership and has very good instruction. I've been watching it for some time now and haven't found any complaints with it yet.

It doesn't have an affiliate program or anything like that. This person just "cares" about the newbies who can't afford membership fees or the high cost of training videos. That's why it's a free membership.

If you're a newbie - you may want to jump over to the Internet Marketing Academics membership site for some good video training of how to start an online business. Just enter the name in the URL bar and you'll get there.

To answer the question as it was asked: No.

No-one ever made a dime buying a book or course, or anything else for that matter. The money is in acquiring new techniques or skills and applying them in ways that help you sell stuff.

Sound silly? Sure. But keeping that in mind when you consider products is a great way to cut down your risk of waste.

I've only ever bought the cheaper end "how to make money" type ebooks, usually for under 10$. From my experience they're pretty basic. The information is all good and practical, but usually it's no secret and I already have knowledge of it. What can you expect for 5$ though? I've never bought anything more expensive so I can't say anything about them.

It is very difficult to come up with a meaningful answer when the premise (premiss?) formulated in the initial question is wrong

The phrase 'an ebook or product on IM or a "how to get rich" product' as used in the first sentence assumes those three are identical/equal... and from that point on the only possible answer is - wrong question.

However, I have bought products (off and online) that taught me to ask the right questions, which resulted in creating good products that made me money.

Yes this is precisely the point - "shelf help" books or courses won't do any good sitting on the shelf. Diving through them, taking copious notes, developing an action plan, carrying out that plan and tweaking, testing and improving until it works, however, WILL make you money. Assuming you're getting your hands on the right material in the first place...

It's all about how you use the information that is given to you.. There are many e-books that contain small doses of gold which, when put to good use, can lead you into the path of earning a rather healthy living online.

My advice to someone new to IM would be to find a lane that they are comfortable in, set some long-term goals, put together a workable strategy and then start working..

If you exercise good judgement and patience you'll eventually start to see some income.

Tina summed it up very nicely in her reply above. Buying a product will expose you to something which is just an enabler (Now a days even there is a lot of fluff being sold here so you need to know which advice you trust). Ergo buying a product will not affect your business in any way. It's only when you take action you will know its effects - good and bad!

If you want to make money online, I would suggest focusing your efforts on starting an online business through list building - believe me when I tell you it's not as hard as it sounds. Let me explain...

The best and most reliable way to make money online is through affiliate marketing and email marketing. Affiliate marketing is when you advertise products and make a commission (get paid) every time one of them sells.

To get people to advertise these products to, you must first build an email mailing list. To do this, you must first build a one-page website (very easy) called a squeeze page. The squeeze page contains a free offer or incentive (like a free eBook or report) that visitors will get once they sign up to your mailing list.

Once a visitor signs up, they are given their free gift. Eventually, you start to promote products to your mailing list - and you get paid every time someone on your list buys a product.

This is the best and most reliable way to make money online in the long term - it doesn't need to depend on Google, or surveys, or anything else really. The amount of success you get really comes down to how much work you put into creating your free incentives and marketing your products.

    Hello! Many good tips here.

Yes, knowledge + action = results. Knowledge alone will not take you anywhere. However, action without knowledge may be a waste of your time.

Do a 10 minutes research, and see which resources are available online for free. If the ebook seems to deliver value for your time, than go for it! If not, start from the resources in the public domain.

Here is a quick way to see one way folks are making money online - selling products:
Go to JVZoo and sign up as an affiliate (or WarriorPlus or whatever) - then go in and look at the products that have sold the most units [On JVZoo - click on "Affiliate" - then click "Find Products"] - the highest bracket they have is 3500+ units, but that will give you a quick idea of how much product is getting sold!!
Always sort of "Inspirational" to see people selling products online like that - inspiration helps with action!! :-)

Yes of course. Everything is a learning curve. Don't fall for "get rich over night scams", "secret loop holes" and stuff like that. Learn to make affiliate review sites and promote other peoples products, thats what I do. It's not easy, nothing is in this business. I will recommend you to be careful when buying IM products at Clickbank. There is a high "scam rate"

    Hey Paul,

The difference between someone who actually makes money using a system and someone who doesn't is one simple thing.

    ACTION.

The person that doesn't make money, doesn't take action.

Conversely - the person that makes money is the one that takes action.

The sad thing is that there aren't more action takers out there to utilize all the skills they're learning.

    Hope that helps!

I have bought dozens of courses over the years, and signed up to thousands of free stuff, some was good, some were excellent but the majority, paid and free were absolute rubbish, and so it is all about finding the people that give value and have proven records, don't just buy on the back of a five minute ClickBank video, and never buy push button products, buy the ones that give a system that you can implement.

Push button systems often give short term results, but are generally useless, and as they don't explain what they actually are doing tin the background you don't actually know any secrets of the trade, systems tell you the secrets, so you can evolve them and keep them up to date and working.
