Newbie question about domain name.

I understand the real thing I need to be concerned about is content. But I wanted to get the opinion of others about domain names. Let's say my keywords for the search is "Radio antenna reviews" and "Best Radio Antenna"
If RadioAntennaReviews.com is taken and BestRadioAntenna.com is taken.. how well will RadioAntennaReview-Online.com and BestRadioAntennasite.com do? I know this is SUCH a green question, but I am trying to be confident in pulling the trigger and making a site.

    Here's the easy answer: Add something to the back of the keyword. For example, you could probably get "RadioAntennaReviewsToday.com" fairly easily. Don't use hyphens or put anything in front of the keyword, though.

      Yep...this is a way you can get around that.

      Just add a word to the end of your domain and try not use hyphens. Not sure if they work or not but I have never used them. Since that is the case, I couldn't recommend them!

    Everyone has their own opinion on this question and (to my knowledge) there is no 100% correct answer.

    From what I've heard and seen most people would suggest doing something like one of these:
    MyRadioAntennaReviews.com
    BestRadioAntennaX.com
    TheBestRadioAntenna.com
    iRadioAntennaReviews.com

      This is 1/2 right. Testing across hundreds of domains tends to provide fairly accurate results, though.

    Also for eg a domain like torinogray.com/radioantennareviews will be fine. Any domain with you target keyword will be good.

    I wouldn't worry too much about having the exact keyword in your domain. But this is my personal opinion based on my recent experiences.

    I would actually use something like RadioAntennaWorld.com or TopRadioAntenna.com and use your keyword in the meta title tag and have it on the page as a title also.

    I think what matters going forward is building the best site possible with great content and making sure you aren't overly focused on SEO. As the recent penguin update proves everything needs to be done for the user or at least look like it's been done for the user. Being so critical over things like the domain name is really the wrong approach at this point in time.

    Should I grab BestRadioAntennaonline.com and RadioAntennaReviewsZone.com... Shouldn't you have multiple sites with unique content in each in your same niche to maximize exposure?

    My opinion: Just add an extra word at the end but NOT the front.

    I'd add the extra word at the end with the exception of stop words that Google completely ignores, such as: the ... so thebestradioantenna.com would be as good as bestradioantenna.com

    There are some rules: a good domain name is relatively short, memorable, isn't easily confused with others and ounds solid to your target audience.

      An answer always leads to another question, but that's how we learn right?

      How important is memorable? For example, I will try to target people who google, "Radio Antenna Reviews" and "Best Radio Antenna".. and since the niche I am promoting is a purchase you generally make once or twice in a blue moon, am I really concerned with a person returning again and again directly? I am basing my approach on my personal habit of googling for reviews (or I used to ). I generally have an idea of what I want, google for reviews, confirm my confidence in my selected object, or find a new one to research based on reviews.. I don't bookmark or remember a certain page, but return through a search if I don't make the purchase immediately, until I feel ready to buy... am I an exception?
