I'm about to start an article marketing campaign and I'd like to be able to track the CTR via my resource box to the landing pages. I thought the easiest way would be to set up a number of 301 redirects using a tracking plugin. But I'm a bit confused as to how this will work for backlink. Does the site receiving the traffic still get a backlink credit if I redirect the link via another domain?

Good question. And although I am not really sure, I don't think they do. I think 301 redirections count as 301 redirections - that is, search engines recognize them accordingly.

Yes they do count as backlinks with Google! If you add your site to Google Webmaster tools and check your backlinks there you'll see that redirections show as backlinks. |
