Noob questions from a product owner

So I've been lurking for a little bit and decided to jump in with my first post, (don't flame me bro!). Most of the contributors here appear to be marketers, but I'm coming at this from a different angle because I own a product I would like to get marketed.

I've tried pitching my product to several different networks but none have responded to me. My product sells well on Amazon without much advertising behind it and I have a healthy budget for commissions at $10 per sale or so. But I can't get anybody to talk to me.

Any tips?

Don't worry, it's not that kind of a forum.

We're probably going to need more info about your product to give you anything useful.

Is it a digital product or physical? What's the niche? Are you offering a high enough commission % to make it attractive to affiliates?

    Hi Op,

Yes, knowing what your product is would help with more specific answers.

A couple of 'blind thoughts' come to mind:

If you are selling it on amazon and it's doing well, use this. Find affiliate manager's email and without being salesy, directly contact them and tell them what you have.

I don't know who you've contacted, but obviously the different marketplaces vary tremendously and depending on your product and sales copy, may not be quite as relevant as Amazon.

I think expanding where your product is offered is a very good idea AND another idea might be to increase exposure of your product on Amazon via other marketing means like sites, social traffic, PPC, etc.

Definitely; and this is a good forum bro, don't worry Flaming is, in general, just not done here. I think I've been here for quite some time and honestly, I just don't see anybody here being "elitist" enough to stop a noob from being successful. There are so many people here that just offer free advice... the collective think tank as a whole is probably more valuable than any single SEO or marketing company can ever be. In fact, the only disadvantage is (as many would agree) information overload causing "analysis paralysis" : Basically, overthinking EVERY possible angle to the point where you freeze, like a deer in the headlights and just never actually ACCOMPLISH anything... I think your first step is to not fall into that trap.
You already have a product. And, depending on the type of product, there are many different angles to market it from.
If it is a digital product, then certainly setting up a clickbank account to sell from would be a good option.
Physical products are probably best kept on amazon since they take care of so much for the seller, it's pretty easy to sell from. But, if that's the case, marketing it might be a little bit more of a challenge. But, there are things that can help.
For example: if your product "solves" some sort of problem, or gives information about something in particular, then you can set up blogs or some other websites that touch on the topic, give enough info as a teaser and provide a link to your amazon product to sell it....
Maybe if you described your product? I don't know if you are allowed to post links just yet as you haven't posted too much.

Thanks to all so far for the tips. My product is a physical product. It is a repair kit for leather goods that consumers can buy and repair damage to their leather car seats, purses, couches, etc.

I honestly don't know what a high enough commission percentage is? I could afford to pay $10-12 per sale. Is that very high? Low? I don't have any idea as I'm very new to all of this.

I sell on my own website too, but I sell more on Amazon.

What is an "affiliate manager" and how do I get their email?
