I just got a new digital camera and am thinking about snapping some images myself to let people use commercially. What would be the risk factors for something like this? I want to allow people a PLR license for the images I package together so that they can do as they wish with the photos. What types of rules would have to be applied to these photos and what would be the intellectual copyright to the photos if I took them myself and offered them up for sale? Thanks for all the answers supplied Warriors. While waiting for some answers, I decided to do a little extra digging and came across this site http://www.photosecrets.com/tips.law.html that provides a little more insight into what can and cannot be done as far as taking photos you plan to sell. Hopefully, this info will be helpful to others as well as myself. What are your thoughts on the above sites rules and how could this be a potentially avoidable problem for someone that wants to take and sell their own images? Tracy |

You might want to look at a stock photo site's terms of service, and then rewrite it a little to fit your plan. This is probably better than trying to come up with everything yourself.

Tracy Try this Website. It looks to have some useful information for someone starting a photo stock Website. Good luck! I would be interested in a WSO from you when you are up and running. |

Dog gone it, I'm getting a 'page not found' error on the site joyful. Could be just my computer though, it's been acting funny lately. Tracy |

| As dvduvall suggest, look at what other stock photo sites are doing for ideas. Stock.XCHNG is one of the largest. Their url = stock.xchng - the leading free stock photography site |

Ok here are my issues: If it is plr, people will claim it as their own. They can then use it on stock sites. But to use images of PEOPLE, you need a model release, which they'll not have. Also, are you happy with your face being on sites, sites that may be illigal, or perverse? Maybe you should release them with strict TOS, and just a commercial license, meanning they can use the image for commercial purposes (website, ebook) but cannot sell the image on... |

Thanks for the input saq, but I wasn't planning on taking any photos that would require any model releases for the simple facts that you stated. I was thinking more along the lines of inanimate objects, nature stuffs, etc. That sort of thing. Don't know if there would be a huge need for that, but it would definitely help out. And I'm not really sure about what the legal ramifications of taking pics of things like money would be. Anyone else know about that? Tracy |
