Can an artist sell music subscriptions to fans?

I'm actually working with an artist's site to try and develop a $2.99 month subscription service.

Do you guys have any tips for this?

    Why not? The only downside I see is that the artist is going to have to produce a lot of music each month for people to go for it.

    If you decide against the paid subscription service you can always do the bread and butter strategy of releasing free singles to keep people interested before launching a new CD.

    It may be tough to make money with this as there is so much free stuff out there. It would depend on the artist's fan base really. What are you offering that is unique and different?

    A key is to develop a rabid fan base. Ones who will pounce on anything and everything the artist has to offer. Have the fans do the work spreading the word...they love that.
