Improving the Purchase and Checkout Process

While I have a successful product that continues to sell well, I was looking over the purchase and checkout pages, and I think clearly they could be improved. I was hoping someone could give me an idea of where I could find some good advice, or maybe even some good models that I could follow. Thanks!

add to the page "This product would go well with your purchase..." and give them the option of purchasing a related product

Thanks a lot, guys. I've got some good ideas. In my case, I have a featured product that most buy, but two versions, and then I have a couple of related type products. More than anything, I just want to make the process simple and easy to understand.
