Okay, so I've been asking tons of questions lately, and you guys have been extremely helpful. I'm hoping to ask another.

I'm starting to build my list, and I'm working on all the emails that will be automatically sent over time. I'm wanting to send them two free ebooks before I promote anything, but I have a question about promotion.

Should I send an email doing nothing but promoting something or should I give them a free ebook, and on the download page, I tell them they may also be interested in my promotion? I'm not sure which way is the best way for keeping subscriber, but also getting as many sales as I can. Thanks for any answers.

The answers you will get to this question will be mixed and based on personal experiences. So let me give you the best possible tip I can offer. Look for the authority sites in your niche who happen to have opt ins on their website.

Opt in and study their sequence. This way you will have your work cut short & won't have to experiment too much with what to try and what not to try.

It all depends on what you are intending to promote! alot of so called gurus use the 2/3 freebie rule, I've used it myself, but what actually is going to keep your subscribers is to find them real value, such as things you use yourself, and not too often!

Don't go down the same road as many, that is going to clickbank, finding something that looks good and promoting it! remember your list is an asset, not something to throw what ever you can at!.....and if that means only promoting twice a month then so be it! I have been on the list of some huge names in the IM world and as soon as they have tried promoting some random product, then ALL trust has been lost and I've unsubscribed in a flash! .........and the sad fact is the world and their wife are now building lists and people are becomming fed up with ropey old promotional tactics, set yourself apart from them, dont always promote or just send freebies, talk to them, send them polls to find out what they want, try to relate to them, tell them about interesting things you may of done one weekend and above all always let them know if they have ANY questions they can contact you via a personal email!

Like I said your list is an asset, and assets are the foundation of any business!!!

..........Just to add an example, today I opened an email from someone who is quite respected and a fairly big name, his email read:-

"Hi Dave (thats my real name) I tried posting this on your facebook wall but something must have gone wrong! therefore I'm sending this via your email to check out right away! do not miss this Dave you won't regret it" --- followed by a link

Now I'm not even friends with this guy on facebook so what the hell is he doing sending that email??? he may think its a clever way to get me to click!!! and it did!.......the unsubscribe link!!!!!

Keep your emails honest and without silly little tricks! I hate so called marketers who treat their lists like idiots!!! makes me sick!!!

Sorry just thought I'd add that one in!!!

My advice to you would be to simply provide as much quality content as possible to warm up your list before you promote anything. There's a higher chance of them buying if they trust you more which will only happen if you're honest and if they love your content.

If the E-books are your own there's no harm in actually advising products within the E-book, but make sure they're of high quality and also don't make buying the product a MUST DO, just suggest it.
