Question on EzineArticles.com

I understand that the main purpose for submitting articles to EzineArticles.com is syndication, not direct traffic.

My question is, how is the syndication generally handled? If someone sees my article and is going to use it, how are the supposed to credit me, are they supposed to let me know, etc, etc?

Thanks.

There's a way they go about it when signing in. They find your article and if they want to republish it they must use your signature at the bottom of it. A lot of the time they don't, unfortunately. They won't contact you but you can see how many people chose to republish it (sort of).

That's the purpose of all article directories, and the reason for their existence.

It's always "in accordance with the (variable) terms of the service" of the individual directory concerned. Which publishers are supposed to read and sometimes do. But those will always specify that they have to take the entire article, and include with it your resource-box and link(s).

Remember that this is "passive syndication" only. It can be great, but it's unwise to depend on it.

Active syndication is a lot better, overall, and more reliable ... provided that the articles are written for syndication in the first place.

The rule in Ezine is to give you credit or use your signature when someone uses your article. However, in most cases, businesses/website owners who find your article informative and valuable to your readers will simply rewrite the article without giving you any credit at all... The sad and harsh truth.
