I'm in the process of creating a new small (Sniper style) website, targeting a specific gadget, lets call it the "QQ"...

I've identified 2 worthwhile key phrases, available as EMDs, namely:

qqaccessories.com, and qqbattery.com

If all things were equal, I think I would probably target "qqaccessories" primarily, because it gives scope to upsell, cross-sell, grow and diversify over time.

However, "qqbattery" gets 5 times as much search volume, so I would be tempted to just get that on focus on it. (for the most part, all other factors, such as competition, are equal)

Right now, I'm thinking I'll still go ahead with qqaccessories, and have a dedicated qqbattery page, which I'll also try to rank for.

Unless someone can convince me to go qqbattery because of the significant traffic potential, and the fact that it is so specific that I have a greater chance of conversions.

Thanks for any thoughts on this.

I would first look up "qq" to see if it were a trademark.

      UGHGHHH.

      Thanks for the reply.

Yeah, I just spent the last hour looking into that, and it looks like product names are bad ideas for Amazon site domain names.

I guess I can still use them for keywords, but for now....

....back to the spreadsheet for me

My thinking was that I would be best focussing my energy on just one. I already have a number of sites under my wing.

Then again, I could buy them both and see what site has more potential after a couple of months. Might do that.

I'm not 100% certain (nobody is) but EMD's may have been a target in the penguin algo, you may want to wait a while before going the sniper route, personally I believe "sniper sites" have had their day, of course it depends on how you go about it.

I dont get the obsession with EMDs. If you know even a little about SEO, you'll know that EMDs aren't necessary.
