Got bored with Article writing

Hello,

I'm working in odesk as a writer. I'm writing from some 3 months. Now I got bored. I'm looking for some easy job with more money like data entry. Lol, when I intend to apply for Date entry jobs, more than 100 members are already applied. Why it is like that?

Well, what I can do? Can anyone give me best ideas for other works?
Need suggestions.

SupportSpace- helpdesk rep from home. Fix PC issues from software to hardware to network problems. Its pretty fun. I tried it years ago and got a few checks.

LionBridge- Test websites and analyze structure. Even non-tech people can do this one. Most of the time u "rate" websites' speed, etc. Pay hourly, about $13.50 or so.

Slice the Pie- Write song reviews, about 60 words on average--- get paid about 10 cents immediately. You have to accrue $10 bucks to withdraw.

If you know how to do keyword search, look for product-based keywords that are relatively easy to rank for. With some dedication, you could have a site on the first or second page of Google within a month. If u dont wanna write the site's content, outsource it.

Go back and read your post in reverse order from the last sentence to the first sentence and you'll have your answer.

Why are 100+ members already applying for the job? Because it's easy work.

The best ideas for work is to do work that YOU are good at and can enjoy.

You got bored with writing articles, so now you want to do data entry?

Not knocking you, but that just hit me weird... There are so many applicants because it's one of the few jobs where, if you have enough skill to apply, you are slightly over-qualified for the job.

Lol, It's not like that. I don't have much skills except writing articles, that's why I'm looking for the work which is easy but pay me more. In article writing, you have to utilize your mind completely especially when you are writing SEO articles and you have huge project on yourself say 3000-5000 words a day.

I hear McDonalds is a couple cents above minimum wage these days, and the work is easy if you can remember what comes on the sandwich. Plus, you won't have to compete with a hundred other people for $10 every time you need to make it. You just work 2 hours .

Joe, if the drive-through window I peeked into this morning is typical, you don't even have to remember what goes on the sandwich. They post pictures over the dressing station now, showing what ingredients go on in which order, and they have dispensers that measure everything out.

            Guitar Hero is more complicated...

I can't imagine that you would like data entry any more than you do writing articles. 5,000 words per day is quite a bit too!! I wrote articles for a living for a few months before I started in IM and I actually enjoyed it. I wrote mainly technical articles, however, as I have a degree in that field.

Hang on, you think you can earn more from data entry than with writing? Why? If you write engaging, well thought out articles, then you be paid $20/hour easily. And that's just at the start. The key is just to write well, and not to sell yourself cheaply for those pointless $1/1000 words jobs. It's not worth it.

If you write well, people will want to spend money on your services, and will want to spend a lot of money on your services. If you do data entry well, you do data entry well... They're not going to pay you any more.

  • Let's see...

    You can write articles,

    You can post on forums.

A Wordpress blog can be setup with a click of the mouse.

    I got an idea.....wait....

Why don't you start a website?

Sorry to hear that... I think the real answer to your question can be found by answering these three questions:

    1) What would you do if nobody paid you to do it?
    2) What are you passionate about?
    3) What skills do you possess?

Listen, sometimes we have to do what we don't want to do, so that we can do what we want to do. Make sense? Use the Odesk writing job as a stepping stone for what you really want to do! Odesk is not the end of the world. It's a blessing in disguise; use it to fund your additional income streams or a passion that you would rather be doing in the long term! Best of luck! CK

    Thanks all of you.

I will try to reply equally to all. I need more suggestions.

Well, I'm just looking for the way in which I can earn more in less time. I have very less knowledge about website making ( but I know somewhat). What If I even start blog ? How can I get earning by blogs making? I have just noticed that people usually thinks about traffic?

I just overlooked all these things and began to write article writings. However, my English is not much fluent and perfect that I can get 20$/article as one of the brother has said above. I have now begin to think about making blogs and writing posts in it. But trust me I don't have a single bit of knowledge that I can even earn money by making blogs? Anyone can show me Is English matters here?

I also thought about refunding my money ( which I earned in odesk) on somewhere else so that I can get more than what I get for writing articles but I stop thinking about this because I don't know any other way except writing articles on various Niche. Recently my client offer me another work for me Article Marketing robot (110$/month for 600 blasts..is it okay?). Well, I almost learned this but I came to know that this is black hat so I left it as I'm very much sincere person and don't deceive anyone.

I thanked Odesk because I'm getting more than what I used to get in Amazon mechanical turk (Mturk) lol.. Money which I used to earned in months is getting me in hours in (odesk).

I hate when people quote the whole post in their replies.
However, in this case is relevant!

To be honest, even if YOU paid me I wouldn't let you to write even one single article for me. With your language skills and 5,000 words/day - you are spamming the web and not adding any value.

Get this from another non-native English speaker.

Thanks for your comment. However, I will not take your comment seriously because I don't feel any favorableness from your side. I was looking for those posts who can build up my confidence and motivate me to work (let it be the cheap work or high standard work).Yes, indeed my language skills are very poor.

Instead of motivating for improving my language skills, you are throwing me on the wall : ). Anyways thanks for spending time.

Article writing can be boring if you don't enjoy the topic you're writing for. Try to find something that you really like and stick to it.

Data entry is even worse; it's donkey job and sooner or later you'll get bored of that too. It's not really about the money but to do a job that you actually enjoy.

To be just a little serious, it's all about this. If you're writing on the low end of the market and have to take any and every job just to survive (and in most cases that is what happens on Odesk), you're going to burn out fast.

Specialize into niches that you don't want to pull your hair out writing about and stick with those. Charge what you are worth. Writing suddenly becomes a lot less boring.

Branch out to other fields and ideas. Look through some of these sites and see if you are qualified to do more:

    1) 5rr- offers gigs in $5 increments up to $25.

    2)
    Goferr- offers gigs for $25

    3)
    Jobsfor10- offers gigs from $5 to $20

    4)
Task Army- more pricey, but also more involved tasks. Many gigs here you will not find at Fiverr.

    5)
Zeerk- gigs from $2 to $100.

    6)
Gigbucks- gigs from $5 all the way to $100.

    7)
Fittytown- feels similar to Fiverr, but gigs are $50.

    8)
    Hundoville- gigs for $100.

    9)
Tenbux- gigs for $5 and $10.

    10)
    JustaFive- gigs for $5, $10 and $20.

    11)
Twentyville- gigs for $10 and $20.

    12)
DoozyDoes- gigs from $5.77 to $100.77. Proceeds going to help animals.

    13)
Fourerr- just like fiverr, except (you guessed it) gigs are $4.

    14)
    GigMe5- identical to Fiverr.

Assuming that you are good at writing; why don't you look more so into copy-writing? Very few people are genuinely good at writing copy. You can offer your services on loads of forums, and you will get paid more than you do with your regular article writing.

    Just a thought...

From my experience people are not paying that much for data entry jobs...
You are writing 3 months now, your writing skill must be good enough to completing writing projects for other so long. Why don't you write for your self now? Try to create a blog and writing-keeping it updated. Then promote and add a PPC program on it.
When you will have a good amount of daily traffic, you can post about some affiliate products too.

I'm pretty sure your only getting bored because your not getting enough money for your writing. If your in this forum, I'm guessing your interested in Internet Marketing. Why don't you create a website and write about your passion. This will surely get you more interested than freelance writing something you don't even know about. (That is if you are doing that)

Mirza, I completely get where you are coming from. Writing can sometimes be a stressful task especially if it's something you are not interested about. But I suggest that instead of looking for easier jobs like data entry etc. why not train in other skills like photo editing or video creation? There are a lot of free resources in the internet right now that if you actually spend time looking for it and taking the time to learn from it, surely you'd get something. It's better to find a more rewarding and specialized job than to choose one simply because it's easy. Yes, it's a challenge but in the end it will make all the difference when it comes to how much you earn. Hope this helps

I'm all for being nice to this guy and trying to help him (or anyone) who wants the help, but some of the people who posted in this thread are doing him no favors by trying to be kind.

He should NOT start his own site and fill it with his own writing. His English is poor and as we all know, poor writing will make an unsuccessful site.

I don't care if you've been writing on odesk for 3 months or 3 years, you are producing low quality work which adds little to no value to the people purchasing it. That's fine, there's a market for that, but don't be deceived by the people here who are suggesting you write for your own site. It will be a waste of your time and resources.

The way I see it you've got a few options...

    1) Keep writing on odesk. Some people who buy there don't want good quality articles for some reason so there's a steady stream of customers.

    2) Duke it out for the data entry jobs. You'll get very bored with those and the pay is low.

    3) Take some classes to improve your English. I believe there are quite a few free ones available. Google around, you'll find them.

    4) Find other things you can do. For example...I just hired someone (from odesk) to post ads on craigslist for me. I wrote the ads myself so all they had to do is copy and paste them (and have access to proxy's). It's not glamorous but it is easy work that you are more than qualified for. There are about 5000 different jobs like this floating around. Find them and apply!

That's about all I've got for you. I hope you don't take any offense to my post as I'm honestly just trying to help you out.

    Good luck!

I sincerely thank all of you, who have helped & advised me unfeignedly. Yes, I agree that my skills are very poor and I should not contribute to the internet world with my poor grammar skills, but sometimes it becomes very . I do really wanna want to do some new things other than writing article. At the time of posting, the only thought came into my mind was "data entry" (as it seems to be very easy). Now, after a long time, I came to realize that nothing can be achieved in this world without difficulties and hardships for any particular thing. In the process, I learnt many new things for making money online. So, I along with my friend started a new website www.workfromhomeasily.com. Now, we will be going to do lot of things (as what GloriaBrandt has written) and guide beginners (like me ) to pursue a successful online career. (Wish us best )

Well, really data entry job is boring but I just wrote due to blankness of mind. I have really learned lots of tactics after this and still learning.

Thanks all for your motivational advices (I know many advices are no more acceptable for me in the market as what Seatbelt99 has written:-))

I got bored with writing and I write very well. It did not matter if I was writing about a topic that I was knowledgeable on or not, I was still bored. I started writing stories. I am having a fabulous time. Right now I am working on a comic book. Never thought I would be doing that. So maybe you could try writing mini mysteries and sell them on Amazon for Kindle.

Article writing is a skill and of course depends on your English ability for most of the world. Definitely carve out your niche and go with that. Agree with earlier posts that working for .01/word won't get you far in most of the world. I've priced my articles at .05/word and a lot of times higher based on specialty niches. Start a site, build content, and help out those who need help. Good luck in your endeavors.
